Post 93 s10 Blazer lq4 swap started w/ Brp longtubes

Sorry if I screw up this post I dont post that much on here. I have done a ton of research for this swap on here (thanks to all who have posted lsx s10 info) so hopefully any info I post might help someone else. I guess to start off I got a hell of a deal on this 93 blazer w a sbc in it. Ive had it for about 3 months now so progress is good but like the rest of you could always go faster. Im using a 03 lq4 dbw 6.0l, I spent forever and a day to get the bpr musclerod 1"3/4 to 3" coated longtube swap kit from jegs but it was worth it. Everything fit as described by bpr, it was kind of a bear to snake the individual tubes in but i didnt have to raise the body off the front mounts like what was in the instructions. I did go the more expensive route with my fuel system, using a A1000 pump and -8 line for preassure and 3/8" aluminum line for return. I went this route to support almost any future upgrades. Im currently working on figuring out what im going to do for the accessory drive setup. I would like the c5 setup but finding it for less than 5 bills w/ everything hasnt happened and with the motor being all stock I would rather spend 500 on cam and intake so... I plan on running a built th350 for now because it came with the truck. Im not using the dbw throttle, nelson performance is setting everything up to run with a cable style t/b. I guess Im going to post all the pix I have of it right now. If anyone has q's just ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Default More pics showing motor mounts and LH8 oil pan clearance

Had to put new blazer motor mount perches on the previous owner cut them off to weld his own sbc mounts on.


BRP crossmember w/ 4l60e plenty of room to get to bellhousing bolts.

No issues with the lh8 oil pan no cutting and plenty of ground clearance.

Im diggin the headers. Any more info on them? Price, etc? They look really nice. I had heard Hedman is making a real similar header for these swaps as well. Supposed to be almost an exact copy.

They were a lil over $1100 coated and shipped. These are the hedman ones, Im not sure how theyre working it but I think brp designed them and hedman is mass producing them...?? Not sure they say brp muscle rod and hedman on the tag on them.. either way they are way worth the money for anyone looking to go past the 500 hp range and not lose any power.

Just got off the phone with BRP as I'm looking at doing an LSx swap in my S-10 racetruck. I have a better, warm and fuzzy going with their stuff as almost a complete kit. 1 7/8" headers w/ bolt on collector, swap mounts (poly or solid) & hardware, and LH8 oilpan. I got scared after hearing that Hedman had something to do them, but BRP fits them and has Hedman build them as per their input. I had a nightmare with the V-8 swap before with my large 1 7/8 race headers for SBC. There was way to many pieces and didn't fir well. BRP's are a 1-piece header flange (very important), and makes me not dread it as much. Now back to worrying about the wiring harness, and PCM. How was the harness, wiring part of your build??? Thanks for sharing.


One more thing, would you mind posting some of that info that was posted on LSx S10's that helped you out? Thanks!

Good looking pics. Im going with plates on my build, so mounts wont be an issue, but we've been looking for a good header. Didn't really wanna have to fab my own. Thanks for the info.

Have not made it that far yet I should have my harness and computer from Nelson by Friday I hope. It should be a pretty easy deal though hes making it to my specs and im running about as basic as possible.(no emmissions ect...) You said the 1"7/8 have a 1 peice flange? Mine where cut inbetween the tubes but still fit perfect with no issues.. I have 2 tubes inside the frame and 2 out w/bolt on collector. As far as the info I used or helped Ill try and hunt it down and post it.

Thanks man, well I guess the guy I talked to at BRP wasn't sure what he was talking about. I asked about that issue, I stated I didn't want anything like what I had with the Hedmans. for the SBC. So, I'm not looking forward to the header install to say the least. You said yours are cut between the primaries, how many pieces are they per side? Take care, later.

They are in four peices each tube is individual but they line back up perfect and were a lot easyier than some of the other swaps Ive done. Took me about 45 mins to put them on but Ive got the whole dog house off and no hvac on the firewall..

i see that have the blazer riser are on there and the headers fit. thats good to know. someone was saying that dont fit. did you have to modify them?

No modifying them just a lil snug under the frame but I wasnt notching the frame and w/o them even my lh8 oil pan I couldnt see clearing with out the tourch and grinder.

okay cool. i was figuring that if i bought the uncoated ones i could add a inch or two to each tubes and get the clearance i needed.

I had thought the same thing I was just not wanting to wait 3-5weeks to get the things then a week to modify and another 3 weeks of waiting to get them coated. I just crossed my fingures and hoped they worked.... My wiring harness will be here today from Nelson performance so Ill post pics later. Another issue I noticed last night when I put my TH350 back in which was in it before with the sbc was that with this kit it moves the whole engine and trans 2" foward. I was putting the turbo 350 back in thinking I would have to send my driveshaft out to be cut down 2" seeing as how the 4l60 is about 2" longer than a th350....To my surprise I get to take it out today and put in my 4l60e with no modifications.

Default Got it running heres a few videos....more to come

Sound is bad... it has 3" race bullets and dumps so it overwhelms the cam a lil... haha I have also recently put a custom comp cam and springs in. Hopefully a trip to the 1320 or dyno soon...

The cam specs are 228 in/234exh @ .050 lift .588/.598
No I havent weighed it yet put hope to in the next couple days, Im waiting on a new trans right now. Stock 4l60 didnt last long.....go figure
