Default Best 600 hp crate engine options?

What's the best (cheapest) way to get an 600 hp LSx crate engine?

"Best" and "Cheapest" dont go hand in hand when it comes to this kinda thing, but I would say an stroked ls3 with a big cam and nice set of heads should get you close, not sure how much itd cost though

Look at the lsx 454. Ought to give you some idea what it will take.

Beyond that some form of forced induction. Cheap will depend on how well you can source parts. But you want something that will hold together, so no matter how it is done be prepared to spend some $$ to do it right.

Yes cheap and good is hard to combine
What I really meant was - the right way to build a 600 bhp (not rwhp) LSx engine while not spending unnecessary money.
I consider $10k cheap so would expect around $10-15K.
IIRC LSX-blocks are steel? This is a track car so only alu engines are interesting.
I rather take higher rpms than too much torque. Oh and EFI only.

427+ci will easily support 600+bhp with strong cylinder heads.
for 10k, u can build a very strong ls motor.
Morris has a 427+ci alum. shortblock for 4500$, but can upgrade up to 440ci.
with a pair of ported l92/ls3 heads, cam, intake, tune, supporting bolt ons. it has the capacity to support up to 1.7hp/ci on pump gas. 700+bhp
