Default 6.0h in LT1 Camaro

Hey guys... I've been planning on buying/building a fully forged 383 LT1 This winter for the past year or so.. Well now the time has come and I keep missing out on all the good deals for parts I need. So the other day I get a text from one of my buddies with a shop. He tells me that 3 of his 6 liter short blocks he's got sitting at his shop are coming home and he's got no room for them. He told me to lowball him a ridiculous offer.. I told him 100 bucks. He asked me when I want to pick it up..

So now I've been thinking about doing a LS swap into my lt1 camaro. But I can't really find a good thread/site that lists everything needed to do it. Or atleast the basics...

My car right now is a:
1995 Z28
LT1
T56

Am I totally missing the threads that have a pretty decent build sheet or are there really not any out there?

Thanks for the help guys.. I'm kind of excited to think about joining the LS1 guys.

Here's a thread that Merv made about his car. Lots of good info in it.

Basically the 4th Gen F-Body are the same for the the early (93-97) and the Later (98-02). You just have to worry about intergration of your wiring, but nothing that has not been done and documented. Many of the Sponsor that do wiring can help.

For Engine mounts, help if you use a LS1 K-member. Other than that.. most part are interchangable and can be gotten out of a later F-Body wreck or purchase from a dealer.

Upgrade the pump in the tank to a LS1 rated one (most use Walbro's).

You can adapt your LT1/T56, but it would be simpler to sell yours and find a LS1/T56 and use allof the bell housing, hyd Clutch, etc.

I do have a 02 Z28 parts car that I am selling parts for (but engine/tran and acc are gone). But I have a K-member and mounts ! Smog equipement and misc parts still for sale..

Wow, first time I ever just try to skip through and find info instead of reading a whole topic I miss out all the good stuff.

Thanks guys, and Merv.. It's looking like It might be cheaper for me to build the 6.0 over my lt1 right now so I may have some questions for ya!

its not a bad swap, and can be done on a budget unless you get carried away like i did but i just like the lt1 style camaros so much better, and i love getting the " it looks like a lt1 but sounds like a ls1" so its all on how much you want to put in it. and the merv helped me out alot so if you have any questions he's a big help. the only thing more u might have to do is change the dash harness to obd2 but that will save you a trip of sending out ur harness to be modified since it should plug all in and work. but if you have any questions also feel free to pm me ive been through it all as well

Haha, That is very true, that bastard was heavy! Had two of them in my 4x4 s10 today along with the lift.. Looked like a lowered zq8 s10 in the back! Haha!

And Jim, I'd have to be with Merv to say your kind of stock.. I'm planning on building this into a 408.. Figure if I'm going to have to go through the whole lt1 to ls1 swap.. I'mma build a mean motor the first time!

if your gonna stroke it im sure you will put heads on it. that must be a pre 02 to have them iron basterds on it. good luck with the build.

does the crank exstend out past the rear main seal or is it pretty flush?

^^More than likely that one has the long Crank..it's an early Engine.

Same thing everyone told me..if you are going to go through the work might aswell make it badass.

That and if you do the work well..if you do upgrade everything is plug n play.
