Yes, I have an LS1 starter on my 5.3. And a 6.0 Flexplate for a 4L80 too.

Solenoid is clocked slightly different and the body length changes over the years, but for the most part they interchange with no fitment issues

Ill post up a few pics comparing a GTO starter to a LS1 Fbody starter later on

Please do post some pics of the GTO and LS1 F-Body starters, do you know if the LS1 F-Body starter will work with the GTO mn12 bellhousing?

Thanks, Dan

^^X2..

I have a 1999 Sierra 5.3 and the LS1 car Starter will NOT work. There is a Casting Lug on the Block that is in the way.

'04 GTO starter was made by Mitsu did not bolt up to my LS6 w/T56 Bellhousing.

The 6.0 truck starter is a half inch shorter than the Delco f-body starter. But I think there are two different 6.0 truck starters. My shorter one came from an Escalade.

The bolts holding the housing together on some of the f-body replacement starters are longer than the OEM. One I got from Rockauto was that way. The Autozone was exactly the same length.

I went through all this crap trying to find a starter that cleared my Sanderson shorties I had to use in an LSX swap into a Miata. Ended up using the 6.0 Escalade starter.

interesting. looks like the Fbody starter's the best choice if you're running exhaust that's tight to the block.
