1977 Chev Monza Spyder LSX454 underway
I just ordered a LSX454 to replace the BBC454 I have now.
My current setup is a Fuel injected Big Block 454 with BigStuff3 operating a dual-sync distributor (cam and crank signal for Sequential injection) and 36lb/hr injectors.
My new LSX454 is using an edelbrock intake elbow bolting to the carb style flange of the new LSX GMPP intake.
Questions:
1. Is a 90MM TB OK, or should I get one of the new bigger ones: 92MM, 102MM etc?
2. I my BS3 system still good? It is 3 years old. I'll probably need to send it in for updating + order a new harness for the COP the LSX uses.
3. Will I be able to use my Accell 300+ (just like a MSD 6AL) or do I just run off the BS3 alone?
My car: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2035660
All the specific details for the current setup are on my cardomain site.
Thanks for the help!

Awesome! A while ago on H-body.org you mentioned a motor change coming, and now we know what it is. Your Monza just looks badass, it is so clean looking, I hope to make mine look as good as yours does.

You caught me. I wasn't going to tell the Vega/Monza crowd until the Texas Vega/Monza meet this september/october.
I cant wait to get the install completed and hit the streets!
Trying to decide what TB size to run.

Here is my baby. Received my LSX454 last weekend. After checking around, I decided to go with one of the dominator flange intakes from Cary at Performance Induction Specialties. Note the 8 bolt crank flange that requires a new flex plate.

That is a very trick intake that will make that 454 run the way it should!
What 4500 TB you going to run? You will be impressed with that combo. And the cam that comes in that 454 is very conservative. Anytime you want more power, the heads and intake are willing to support a bigger cam.

is that LSx directly from GM? I think I soiled myself with that picture
I would run a 102MM TB as that is a large displacement setup. Swap the cam out and make sure the valvesprings can handle the job.
The BS3 can be updated with the latest and greatest I believe if you contact them. Software upgrades are pretty easy to do. You may want to run e85 if it is available in your area as you can run lots of timing and it is under $3/gallon 105 octane. You do need injectors that are 30% larger than normal as e85 burns more fuel than regular gasoline. You need a fuel pump that can support 30% more also!

Yes that's the one directly from GM.
I was sticking with the cam it comes with, because I cant seem to find consistent data on what I can run with the existing valve springs or what would work best if I changed the cam/springs. It should still make closer to 670+ (the 620 GM rating is conservative and is with the GM carb intake. The one Im running has shown to increase power by quite a bit.
Waiting on some more parts before install this baby! Maybe have it running by end of summer or so.

Update on the Monza Spyder LSX454
Finally got around to doing some serious work on the car. I rebuilt a new trans mount/torque arm mount combo, welded in motormounts (solid) and next installing a new JW flexplate - then the motor and trans go in hopefully for good.
Trying to get it running in three weeks or so....

On The Tree
similar build here
1977 Monza here. 6.0 iron shortblock and LS3 heads. Going carb. I'm just building the headers. I made solid motor mounts. I'll watch this build for ideas. Our car ran 11.20's@118 with a 1.42 short time. That's on 235x60x15 M/T ET Street Drag Radials.
Great looking car you have.

Header Fabrication
Don't ever try this at home. This was my first attempt at building headers. It was a major PIA, but fun to do also. My welding is decent at best. I did it with a MIG. I plant to send the headers as a template for seamless stainless ones in the future. I was trying to have the car ready for Pinks All Out Oct 15 in Houston, but just ran out of time. Haven't worked on it since the 14th now, but plan to get back on it in a week or so.

It would suck to lose the PINKS race and say "goodbye" to that new 454LSx lol

Cooling system
Here are some pics of the ridiculous plumbing for my cooling system. A remote water pump was necessary to allow room for twin Puller fans. In the past, I ran pushers and never could keep the car cool. Remember this is a monza with very little room (short engine compartment).
It actually only allowed me to gain about 1", but it was just enough to make it work.
