Has anyone put a LS1 engine in a C4 Corvette?
I have a 84 Corvette and If I could get an LS1 engine for cheap, how hard is it to put an LS1 engine in it? Do the SMallBlock chevy engines and the LS1's share the same mounts? Could someone post some pics and some specs? Thanks

There is a gentlemen on this forum who is in the process of finishing his up. Look in the older posts on this topic. I believe his handle is LS1C4.

Re: Has anyone put a LS1 engine in a C4 Corvette?
Could you give me a link to the place you bought the motor mounts from? Also could you give me a link to some pics or send them in my e-mail or even post some? I have an LS1 TransAm and wow is that thing fast, I would love to have an LS1 in my vette. Right now its tips the scales at 2998lbs with 1/2tank of gas and without anyone in it. But I would like to keep my A/C and make it smog legal. Anyway what else is involved besides changing the mounts? Would my stock Display unit still work? WIll my guages work with an LS1? Thanks for your help

Purchase the motor mounts from "Street and Performance" 80 bucks.
The best part is after the ls1 swap your 84 should weigh about 500 lbs less than your T/A and blow the doors off it stock motor vs stock motor.
You could probably wire your dash up to different sensors and keep all that working. I went to autometer gauges for simplicity and a better look.
I can answer most of your questions if they are specific.

Re: Has anyone put a LS1 engine in a C4 Corvette?
My TransAm is already 3500lbs, and my Corvette is about 3000 flat. So right now its already a 500lb difference. Also could a TH400 bolt to the LS1? OR is that not possible? IS there a kit of somekind that can adapt it if neccessary? Plus what kind of paper work would I have to fill out at the DMV and what kind of prosedures would I have to go through to make it legall and lisenced, and registerd? Thanks for your help

But what kind of papers or things would I have to go though to make it all legal, because the inspector around here does all kinds of checks on everything

What kind of headers were used injunction with the LS1 In your C4? I have an 84 that I'm trying to install a LS1 with A T56 attached. What problems did you run into with the transmission mounting both to the engine (within the engine bay) as well as to the rear differential? (did you used the torque arm?)

I take it you mean the Torque arm? (I Beam?) I don't know if anyone here has done it. My research so far has led me to a place called Keisler Engineering (5-6 speed transmission kits) www.keislerauto.com I also have one other source in my back yard so to speak D&D performance located in wixom MI.
If anyone knows if it has been swapped as a DIY job then please share some details.

I would think that you would be able to use the F-body T56 and make a driveshaft that fit from that to the stock C4 differential. I wouldn't use the torque tube from the C5, if that's what you're talking about.
ScandalouseLs1C4: Where do you live? I'm in Farmington Hills, about 15 minutes from D&D. I got my T56 from them. I just got my LS1 swap done a couple of weeks ago and I'm about to start tuning it with HPTuner as soon as it arrives (tomorrow, according to UPS). You're welcome to come over and check out my car.

Thanks for the info Matt. Actually i want the C4 torque tube or arm. The reason I want to use it is because i've herd he helps out a great deal with wheel hop. Although i doubt I will be having any problems with that considering i'm only aiming for 500 at the wheels. In regards to the location I live In Flint Michigan (formerly grand blanc)
I got some questions about your tuning, and about your trans & engine.
