Default my 71 vega GT LS1/T56

Here are some pics of my 71 Vega GT with a 98 ls1/t56. the way it is mounted in the car is similar to how hooker sells the aftermarket engine mounts that bolts to the front of the block for header clearance. the radiator was mounted more forward and lower you can see from the front of the car. a painless wiring harness was used with a 98 ecu. stock 98 corvette sending unit in the fuel cell(which ill be replacing with an inline pump soon)

let me know what you guys think about the car?

Looks great! My first car was a 1970 Vega but in the bright yellow with the black stripe, good little car except for the rust around the front and rear windows. What did you do for a fuel system/tank/pump?

Nicely done! I also had a V-8 Vega, mine was a 72 Wagon. I did my conversion while I was in the Air Force in Germany in 1975. Ours was orange and black.

Do you have a source and part numbers for your intake system? It looks like it would work for what I want to do with mine.

thanks

Pat

Looks Great. No wonder vegas no longer sell for $50, they make great swap candidates, wish I had one.

My vega that Im doing a swap in has the same old school V8 motor mount kit. Did you just make your own piece that bolts to the block and use the rest of the kit as it is?

When I had Vega(s) I thought I was probably the only one that thought they were OK. Cheap and fun to drive though. Yours is a beautiful machine. Glad one was saved.

Thanks for all the compliments, and yes that is my friend in the background, i thought it was be good to get both while i was busy trying to take pics of the car. and it actually came out pretty good. lol. but everything is the stock kit but with a different plate that bolts to the front of the motor. the car has no power steering or power brakes, but it is still fun to drive. i ran down my friends 05 GTO with mufflers that ran 12.9@113 and with a passenger i put 4-5 cars on him up to about 130-140 from a dead stop. the car really hooks, it has 90/10 shocks up front and 50/50's in the rear.

The intake on the car is off of a truck, the piping at least, i dont know if it came with the same elbo or not. it is approx 3.5''

it has a jaz fuel cell, stock 98 fuel pump sending unit, gm sender. but like i said i am going to replace it with a new cell and inline pump, i beleive there is a 255lph pump in it right now.

the headers in the car are a real tight fit as you can probably see from the pics, ill eventually have some custom long tubes made for it.

this car started its life out as an all out drag car, had dual Nitrous bottles ect. then it was converted back to a street car, it has 2x3'' boxed in tubing welded into the subframe from the front of the rear end to the firewall.
i forgot to mention the car only has 3.08 gears in it. im looking for some 3.73's but it still moves right along.

The car also weighed in at 2651 with a full tank of gas(16 gallons). it was done on digital scales and it came out to 1320 on one side and 1331 on the other. 47% rear and 53% front.
