Default Corvette regulator/filter

What kind of fittings does the regulator use on the stock Corvettes? Are they quick disconnect? I was thinking of getting some Russell quick disconnect fittings to finish the install of the regulator. What do you guys think about this? Probably cheaper to go with Dorman parts but I'm thinking of using braided hoses. Anybody have some pics of the Dorman type lines installed? What kind of clamps did you use? LOL lots of questions.

It uses the gm quick disconnects. I got the dorman quick disconnects at Advanced Auto parts and used fuel injection rubber hose and fuel injection hose clamps. This was the quick easy and cheapest way to go I believe. Haven't gotten to the point of pressurizing yet so hope it will hold the pressure. Looked at the Russell quick disconnects but everybody was like a month away from getting them in stock. Good luck. They looked nice and stainless braided would look nice and clean.

If you're using braided line the Russell fittings work out nicely with the Vette filter/regulator.

Easy hook up and easy filter changes down the road.

That's what I was looking for! Thanks. I'll look into this.

Default Russell Fittings

Hey John,
I like the look of those fittings but could not find them at their web site. Are they a new product for them? If I had a cat# perhaps I could get them ordered. By the way thanks a lot for checking out my harness after UPS tried to destroy it.

I also used the fuel injection hose and clamps for the high pressure input side and regular fuel line and clamps for the return. For the output I used the Dorman quick conect with a flared fitting on the end. With almost 1000 mile use it is working fine, no leaks and good performance. I will warn you the fuel injection hose is spendy, but still cheaper than AN fittings and braid.

Jim

Jim,

The part number for the 3/8 fitting (2 required) is 640850

For the 5/16 fitting (1 required) the number is 640860

They are fairly new. I think they are on their site, just buried somewhere.

I'm glad your harness was undamaged. Gotta love UPS; they told me it was MY fault for improper padding around the product, after they obviously ripped the whole end of the box out!

Oohhh I like those quick disconnect AN style fittings. I'll have to do that next time when I change the filter.

Yeah, they can be real tools! Jim filed a claim and sent the harness back to me in the original box so I could see the damage. UPS re-boxed it in a nice new box and kept the damaged box, getting rid of the evidence against them.

I was wondering if anyone has the part number for the small 3/8ths line on the output side. I found the 12" Dorman part, but like this set-up alot better.

im wondering if i should buy the corvette regulator/filter, or a new fuel rail with a return line instead for my new project. On mye Camaro 67 I installed a fuel rail with a return line. It works great, but im not sure why i didnt get the corvette regulator/filter instead.

where in the world do you find that litle stubby peice on the outlet side with the flares on both ends? I've finally found where to buy dorman products online, but looks like they only sell 12" peices.

I bought the 12" long piece at Autozone and cut it with a dremel so I could remove about 8" of tube in the middle and then I reconnected it with a compression fitting coupler, make sure you flare each end a little to give it strength to avoid pulling out of the fitting and/or leaking.

I wonder if anyone has used stock GM fuel lines? some of the LS1/LT1 stock lines are SS, I've seen part#s but they have to be tons of them in sme newer car junkyards!

Default fuel system

wanted to keep the stock hard lines because of the bead on the end of lines. the bead prevents the line from slipping off. the tool to make that bead cost 375 hence i didnt want to cut em. filter is away from axles and heat!
vette fpr $50-napa
thermoid efi hose 10ft roll $28-ebay search for fuel injection hose
(3) 730-4927 napa part #'s 3/8 quick dissconnect fittings $10 each i only bought 2 and used the stock ls1 for the third. if your reaalllly cheap get them at the yard.
(1) 730-4926 napa part #'s 5/16 quick dissconnect fitting for return from fpr to tank. $10
you can find these fuel connectors on 3.1l luminas! one is 3/8 and the other 5/16.
(10 or so) Seamless Pinch Clamps free!! you can buy efi hose clamps for $8 on ebay for a bag of 10
(1) 1ft. long 3/8 tube for male end of fpr $12. i cut it and made the quick dissconnect fitting with my trusty snap on flaring tool
$120 for a well done fuel system imo. cant beat it.

I take it the 3/8" is the inlet and the 5/16" is the return, right? Just making sure for I don't want to hook it up right. Also, on those Ressell fittings, what - AN size do they go to, -6? I ask for I've looked around and I can't find what size they are.

Maybe I missed it but where can a person buy the male 3/8" quick disconnect to male 3/8" quick disconnect adapter for the ouput side of the regulator? That's the only thing I have left to find for I don't have a flaring tool to make one of them. For that matter do you need a special tool to make something like that?

Thanks!
