thanks for the pics, i have 3/4" to the firewall, a bit further back than your setup.the s&p headers are tight and i think they build them to their engine layout, therefore they probably dont want to commit to anything else than their setup.headers were not my first choice but after buying two sets of different manifolds that didnt fit ,i gave up.but there are many 6.0 manifolds that may work ..escalade...gto...f body...hummer...ect.. that may work for you being your eng. is in a different location than mine. i have a set of truck and f body manifolds i could size up to see if they are even close to what might work ,also i think edelbrock is now making headers for this setup? Headers are on another back order. 3 more week if i am lucky. So i am going to go ahead and take body off this week. I just hope there is no problem with headers hiting fire wall. I dont think it will be a problem. I am just ready to start the fream build up on it . And get the body work started.

Wow consider yourself lucky your headers look better than mine did when they arrived. I think UPS had fun with my box not to mention the gaskets, bolts, and O2 extensions were mia. Although you will probably want to dump the bolts that came with it in favor of some longer ones anyways.

If you want a reference document, Car Craft is doing an LS1 Swap into a 67 El Camino in the most current issue. They are listing all of the parts/pieces they are using as well with a lot of pictures. This might be able to give you some pointers etc. Should be a fun ride when you get done....
