Hate to bring up an old thread, I know when I post this people will go crazy and buy a bunch of these and when they'll jack the price up and I wont be able to afford one at the beginning of the year ... but since I haven't read this anywhere on the hybrid and comversions forum I thought I'd mention it... You can buy these tanks for A bodys, F bodys, (maybe others too, I didn't go through the whole catalog) from RockAuto.com... Most for $448.79 Shipping is pretty decent too; for a tank shipped to my door for my 68 Chevelle it would cost me $516.19... Sorry if this is old news.

Exactly where I got mine from.
No matter where you get it from, I expect that most of us will be wanting to use AN fittings for both of our connections. You can get stainless compression fittings from mcmaster carr that go to pipe thread and then you can just use the aluminum pipe thread to AN adapters. They do make a 3/8 compression to 6 AN adapter but not one for the 5/16 line on the tank.
I just plumbed them both to pipe thread and then to aluminum adapters so they looked the same and I had aluminum to aluminum on the AN side.
A few other companies such as Pure Choice Motorsports sells the compression to AN fittings but I found them to be very expensive.
I had some -06 fittings welded onto mine the other day. If anyone goes this route be sure to tell your welder that the sender is zinc coated and is a PITA to weld to.

QUESTION:
Did you get you tank WITH or WITH OUT with Evaporation Emissions Control???
This is a pic off my car. I'm not going to run that little canister that comes off the intake & back into the fuel tank if that matters. Would that mean get the tank WITH OUT Evaporation Emissions Control?
Any line you don't use, just block it off. I retrofitted my '78 TA tank and just blocked off the evap line. Car fires up perfectly everytime...I cannot wait to drive this but I have to get my gauges and complete a lot of the prettys tuff before I let it out on the street. Not to mention it is taking my rear guy (not protologist) over 4 weeks to get my 10bolt back to me!!!!
What did you use, a Tanks Inc kit to retrofit it? Was it ~$225 - $250?

I cut my tank open, welded a 3" license plate recess frame from suicidedoors.com with some holes drilled in it to the bottom of the tank. Cost me $20 and looks stock.
Now there is one small issue...when the pump is running and the tank is down to the point outside fuel is lower than the "sump" my gauge will read inaccurate. This can happen because my return line feeds the sump to ensure that much more fuel stays around the pickup. When my gauge stops moving I know I have 9 gallons left...or I can turn off the pump, let the gauge read, then turn the pump back on.
For $20 I'm happy

I was going to modify a stock tank by using a 3rd gen. F-body sending unit I picked up from ebay. My car came with a fuel cell so I would've had to buy a new tank, pump and then open up the tank to weld in some baffles. It just seemed more practical to use this tank. I just ordered it yesterday for $444.52 shipped to my door!!!

I will try to fill my build thread with pics and video sometime soon. I have pics of my whole fuel system.
Walbro pump, vette reg, mustang filter before the pump just to be safe, modded tank, and $30 worth of summit fuel line that I have about half left over, 2 feet of fuel injecting rubber line, and a handful of compression fittings
ended up being pretty cheap and no leaks since first start, one compression fitting dripped so I tightened it and now its all good

Sorry to bring this up again, but everyone loves to save money right?!
Use this coupon code 12846181017658 when ordering from Rock Auto, and get a 5% discount on all orders! Expires Jan 11, 09!
When ordering and it says "how did you hear about us?" on the bottom, enter the code there and your discount will automatically be applied... $426.35 for an efi tank w/ pump is starting to sound PREEEETY good to me!
I cant decide Tanks Inc or B body. The hole in the trunk pan is just for fuel pump access? or does the trunk floor have to be raised to get the tank as far up as possible?
section of the trunk has to be raised in order to clear the tank sending unit with the tank tucked up as high as it can go against the trunk. Here is how the factory did it in a caprice. Mount the spare tire over it and you dont know it is there.
The return pours back into the baffle. I wonder if this might cause some airation if the flow back is at a high preasure/volume. Hopefully this feature is their cure for fuel starvation under accel. that was mentioned before (years ago)
