what about rear ends for a c5 z. are they a lot stronger than the f-body's. and what kind of replacements are out there for it, or are they the same as the f-body...moser 9"/12 bolt.
Not the same as F-bods since the vettes have an independent rear end. Most you can do is upgrade the output shafts and buy a brace if you keep the stock differential. Or you can buy an upgraded beefier differential from a vendor too. They're about as expensive as doing a 9"/12 bolt on an F-bod when you go that route.

Or you could use the Z06 for the purpose it was built for CURVES!!!! Leave that 1/4 stuff for cars that don't handle so well...
yeah i was looking on some web sites and all i could see was upgraded diffs for $1800, so thats why i was askin. i dont plan on taking it to the track to much. i just wanna see what she will run as i do the mods. im gonna keep my camaro to beat up on at the 1/4.

Yes they are expensive, I think I have almost $2000 including the install in my RPM Diff. I think EVERYTHING is more $$$$$ on a corvette...LOL
You think the Corvette tax is bad .... look at the cost of a Porsche aftermarket exhaust or a Dinan upgrade for an M3.
Corvettes are a DIRT cheap to modify.
As far as AMERICAN cars go, Corvettes are expensive compared to other LS powered cars or even other brand X american cars.
I can't speak for everyone, but for me my corvette was not DIRT cheap to modify. For the average Joe, that statement "Corvettes are a DIRT cheap to modify" is BS!

Yes, if you've been moddin' Camaros and Firebirds for the past 5 years - of course the Corvette tax seems OUTRAGEOUS.
but when you compare the amount of power and handling you have for the cost of mods vs. similar performing modded cars - the Corvette is cheap. (remember this is speaking relative to the Z06's direct competition- M3, Cayman/911, etc)
My 01 Sport seats are more comfy in a long haul than my wifes 08 seats!
As far as my last post my wifes 08 A-6 made 384 to the tires with 500 miles on it.
My friends tuned and cold air 03 ZO6 made 370. Ours tuned and a Vararam made 395.
Our 08 A-6 from a dead or a roll feels faster than any Z I have driven or riden in!

I don't think anyone's arguing that...the LS3's are making great power. If an '08+ was similarly priced to a C5Z then I would probably go LS3 but they're not plus the OP was asking about LS2 C6's vs the C5Z so in that case I'd say C5Z all the way.

Actually, IMHO with 2006 LS2 C6's in the mid $20's, a nice cam, LT's and a FAST intake will put you around 470 rwhp and a $1,000 set of TEA LS6 heads that flow 325/257 will put an LS2 right near 500rwhp for less than $30K.
It sure is nice to have options.
My money and advice would still be for a C6Z, bar none.
