I agree, to many aren't reading the topic. LS3's are sick motors minus the damn torque management. But in his price range you can't beat a C5Z. Plus IMO it looks way better then a base C6.

Everyone mentions 06/07 LS2's... are 05's taboo for some reason? Did they make some changes between the 05 and the 06/07s that I'm not aware of? Do the 05's not take to Mods as well? Is there a reason to stay AWAY from them?

I don't think there's much difference if any b/w an '05 and an '06 LS2.

The 05's have the weakest rear, they changed it in 06. The 05 has the odd steering wheel that was used that year only and the auto is the A4 instead of the A6 used in 2006, not to mention the E38 controller used in 2006+ which will adjust faster and help cam'd cars run better/smoother.

You can't help to be amazed that you can pick up a C5Z for $25K these days. My only problem, they are more related to the F-bodies with build quality and fit and finish vs the 05 and up. Major improvements everywhere in fit and finish. They also look so dated now with the C6's. The pop up headlight noise drives me nuts too, as does the huge rear bumper that didn't really look so huge until the C6 was designed.

Whatever floats your boat really.

Door handle delete
Push button start
HID lights
200% better interior
Aggressive lines
LS2

These updates are easliy worth an extra 150lbs to anyone unless you want a track car with lighter wieght, otherwise there is no benefit other than availability and personal preference. I really didn't like C6's when they came out and I almost bought a new C5Z but I just waited.

Glad I did'nt since they are dirt cheap, as are C6's. Amazing deals!

Again, the smart thing for anyone would be grab a C6Z and get the best of both with tons of room to grow and the wow factor that the C5Z and C6's will never have.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I could buy a C6 if I wanted to, I just don't want it. I have driven both, IMO the C5Z drives better and has more low-end grunt. Plus the LS6 sounds better then the LS2.

Looks are in the eye of the beholder I guess, I like the looks of a C5Z much more then a base C6. The base C6's just don't look tuff like the C6Z's do. They look narrow to me. The door handle delete and gadgets like that I'd pass on. Just more crap to break LOL. So C5Z it will be, at least for me. Until I can swing a C6Z. Which might be a while with the other new car and new house....

The C6 interior is getting shredded in almost every review of it. People are astounded to see such a blah design in a $100k+ car for the ZR1. My wife's $15k Nissan's interior looks better than any of the vettes made in the last decade. I wouldn't say my C5z or any C6/C6z has a better interior than my old LT1 fbody.

Somebody would have to be smoking crack to even type that a C6, C6Z or ZR1 has the same level of build/interior as an LT1 F-body. My buddy has an 06 Altima and you feel the interior is comparable to a C6, C6Z or ZR1? Wow.

Let me guess, since the 2010 Camaro will have the same build quality as the current C6 and Malibu, youre telling us the build quality is comparable to an LT1 eh?

Thats cool, get what you like. C6Z's will be so cheap in the next 2 years anyway. Kinda scary what C5's and C6's will cost then too.

What on an LS6 sounds different than on an LS2?

I agree about what you said pertaining the guy talking about the LT1 interiors being even close to a C5/C6. What a joke! I had an LT1 before my LS1, the interior was a POS.

As for the sound, hard to describe. Just sounds "deeper" to me. Plus the Ti exhaust sounds awesome.

Hurry up and grab your C5Z man! Then let the moddin' begin. It's fun as hell owning one, even if you hardly ever drive it, like myself. It spends more time ripped apart with me slapping mods on it than it does on the road.

I enjoy mine, I also don't drive it very much, but when I do...well you know.

I would take the z over an 05 but I would definately take the 08 with the ls3 over the zo6.

I had the same debate about 5 months back and chose a C5Z. Mainly because when I drove the C6 it just didn't feel the same there are alot of reasons as stated above and throughout this thread. I love the 6 still but I've had a few C5's and guess I'm just partial, The small differences in owning a Z06 compared to a Standard vette are well worth it, at least to me.... (don't get me wrong if I could afford a newer Z0 well enough said).

Yep, all the C6's have the same interior but there may be a hair more head room in the C6Z due to the fixed roof but I'm not sure. If you put the seat down all the way, there is room for your knee. I'm 5'11" though.

Actually, no. C6Z has the same headroom as the coupe with the body colored roof. My coupe with the glass top had more headroom because it didn't have the headliner. The Z actually has a removeable roof that's bolted and glued in place and you could easily convert it.

I am 6'4" and ~290. The C6 definitely has more room than my C5Z had.

drove an 06 c6 today. comparing to the c5 zo6 i didnt like the offset shifter... the center console seemed alot wider making less leg room, and the cars performance overall was more of a luxury car and was not as fun to drive. on the plus side there was more head room i thought the dash was a lot nicer and remote start is awesome but i would have to take the c5z06 and save 5-10k for something else

Lots of info in this thread. But I would like to clear up a statement made a page or so back.Someone stated that its hard to make 400RWHP with a LS6.That is just a BS statement. As I own a 03Z and its what I chose as my weapon. But as far as that BS statement goes.

look what got here today

Read um and weep!
