Default Vararam guys chime in !!

Hey guys just wondering if I should go to a Vararam this spring over my zip-tie mod on my 03 Z06. I know this has been beat to death but I want fresh opinions. I know a lot of guys say its no dyno queen but gives the SOTP feel above 60mph. i am mostly wondering if I will feel a diff. and I am concerned over fitment and sealing issues. Also any hood shutting issues as well? Thanks guys!

All I hear is good things about them. My buddy picked up .2 sec and 2 mph with one on a stock '01 ZO6.

They have made them a bit better recently. Mine was pretty good, no issues and it was bought about 6 months ago. I will have one on my next Vette too.

I have the first version and the fitment leaves a bit to be desired. But I think it's one of those things that only I notice. Otherwise, it performs excellent. (Or maybe that was the LTs and tune that I had done at the same time...)

I have an 03 Zo6...Had mine for 3 years now, no issues.

Also installed one on my buddy's 01 vert and no issues. We installed Vararam, LG Longtubes, B&B mufflers and a tune, turned 12.59 on street tires with a lousy 2.2 sixty foot time. The mods work great !!

i have one as well. it was an early unit and has still performed very well!!! it has proven results on the track, there is no arguing against that! if you want something more performance orientated and are willing to spend the ~250, then go for the Vararam!!! if not, go with the cheap zip tie mod.

i have the latest version of the intake. just got it 2 months ago. The quality is junk. i was really disappointed. It does perform great, can't argue that. I just think that they could have built it a little better.

Hey guys, thats what I have been reading mostly about them. Built kinda shoddy, but do work mostly! Is the 2nd gen ( VRB2 )built better or what is its claim to fame?

i think the biggest thing is that the airbox lid seals much better with the new version. if thats the case, i would hate to see the old version.

Dont have experience with a C5 unit, but for what it is worth I installed a Vararam CAI on my 06 Z06 almost 2-years ago. No issues with fit other than had to re-glue the rubber strip inside the housing next to the air filter. It works great according to the a_s dyno. Great pulls over 2500 rpm. The guys at Vararam are great and sent me replacement fastners free of charge after a body shop lost them while painting my valve covers. The dyno numbers are not significantly different between types of air intakes but the Vararam unit is a true cold air intake and your Inlet Air Temperature will drop significantly over stock which equates to more HP with less timming being pulled by your ECM. You can't measure this on a stationary dyno.

You will definitely feel a difference with this mod, even at lower speeds the throttle response is much better. I picked up almost 4 tenths and 3 mph with the Vararam, over the modified Z06 airbox I had on it before. With just the Vararam and tuning my car has run well into the 12s in the quarter mile (see sig)

Looks great man. I would ditch the Vararam sticker though. They look so much better without the fuel rail covers, they were the first parts I ripped off. Nice

You wont notice it on the dyno, but once moving, the vararam shines compared to other intakes. I wish mine fit better but o well...

Best Intake you can buy. I have it on my C6Zs' and had it on my LG C5 Z06 (Sold). It is a pain to get on, but the best one out there for performance. As mentioned previously, you can not tell on a dyno, but on the street, it will make a difference.

Thanks. I agree about the fuel rail covers. A beautiful motor and GM covers it in cheepie plastic.
