Default C6 Z06 brakes on 2001 C5

You only need a larger front wheel, and the other parts bolt right up. As it goes, the stock rear 18x10.5" wheel works just fine.

The 18" OEM wheels (Alcoa and Speedline) have *just* enough clearance.

The 01 wheels will give you just a hair more clearance FYI. Its close with the 02-up wheels.

Well, I put Hawk HP Plus pads in there, so the pads have incredible bite. You're not going to notice much on the street - you could probably get away with a better pad on stock calipers.

I really did this for two reasons: brake fade at the track, and as an appearance mod. The stock C5 brakes really suffer from heat build-up in the calipers and the pedal gets soft after 20+ minutes of hot laps. But, a good set of stainless lines and some Hawk HPS pads in stock calipers will make it feel like you have a whole new brake system for alot less money.

Default Brakes

I put a sit of the C6 Z06 brakes on my 02 Z06 & it stops like you would not believe, the best thang about it is they are bolt on for the c5s except wheel spacing. I just had the use the 18 9 1/2 on the front

So for clearance you put the Rear 18x10.5s on the front ?

And do you have close ups of the front wheels so I can see how much they stick out ?

Nice.

Speedway (spermway) white Zo6's are hard to come by. A modern day cult classic.

Glad the brakes worked out, I would LOVE to add them to my '01z also.

Why would you not just use the wheels off a C6 that are staggered 19 rear and 18 front with a 5/8 spacer?

because c6 wheels look like a$$ on a C5...... sorry just my opinion. I think the rear C5Zo6 wheels look perfect on the front of the car, looks really aggressive. I run them up front and love them, now just need to get those brakes

Not only does it look goofy, the C6 wheels are heavy, adding a spacer adds another small amount of weight, and requires new lug studs. Worst of all, spacers change the scrub radius, which has a number of negative affects on the adjustment of the camber and caster as it correlates to steering feel and handling.

ya are correct on the negative effects on spacers if you were actually sticking the wheels out further than stock, but all you are doing is spacing the c6 wheels out to the natural spacing of a c5.

Also you can buy oem wheels which are a lot better quality than aftermarket. And the new zr1 wheels would be bad A$$ to put on a C5, i hate all the room between the tire and fender, but the car is low enough right now, thats why i want bigger wheel/tires which will race the car a little take up some of that gap, and then lower the suspension to get the look i want. Also rocking 19's in the front and 20's in the back would be sick.
