C5 vs 2011 Mustang GT

Considering it took the Mustang 14 years to catch up to a 97 LS1 Corvette, I think it sounds about right... It's not like the LS1 was going to be king of the hill forever.
Time to admit it. The LS1 is starting to show its age. It's still a great motor, but the times are changing. The LS3/7 are superior motors. New head technology, more advanced computing, less sensors, no smog pump crap, etc...
I have an LS6 and even I'm feeling a bit left behind. LOL
The new Mustang GT is very impressive. Although, the times it ran were on Off-road pipes and slick and skinny. To me, it'd be more impressive if it could run those times on a street tire at least. My feeling is that if it can't pass smog and you can't drive it on the street, the times mean nothing to me. You might as well turn the car into a full drag car in the first place.
My C5Z should run into the bottom 12s or high 11s. I'll find out at LA Invasion, but that'll be done on a street tire (Toyo T1Rs) and with catted exhaust.

That could be the dumbest statement I have ever heard. So basically by your thoughts, every car that doesnt pass CA smog should be turned into a full drag car? So your saying that your car is superior then 99% of the cars in the US because it passes californias smog laws?
I mean was the statement above a joke or do you have that big of a chip on your shoulder.

That's not what I'm saying at all...
What I'm saying is that if you're going to pull the things off the car that make it street legal, it's not a valid comparison when you're comparing it against cars that are unmodified.
The car was the slick and skinny. Granted you can do that to any car, but now we're comparing a car on slick and skinny and no cats to a bone stock car. I was exaggerating by saying you might as well turn the car into a full blown drag car.
You don't see this as apples and oranges?
My point is when are you going to see this exact same scenario? I see it every once in a while, but who the hell drives their cars on the streets on slick and skinny?

I was talking about a BONE stock car and a car with Dr's and slicks.
BTW the 2011 GT 500 have 10 more hp and 120 less weight, a better heat exchanger and are supposed to be a little faster. But we shall see if they are faster.
Here is the fast list for the GT 500s

Agree. It is the same thing as dyno and internet racing. A lot of talk, numbers through around, and a little whining and/or crying. In the end nothing really happens.
On the 11 Mustang.... it is still a mustang even if it faster. Plus a C5 will attract the attention of a hot chick where a mustang will attract the attention of a guy with a tongue ring. I will stick with the C5

BUT, Corvettes and Mustangs both attract girls. It's the KIND of girls they attract that makes the difference.
Corvettes attract hot mid-20's to low 30's girls.
Mustangs attract teeny-boppers and drag queens.

This was posted on a popular car website cant remember which one but it looks like this website just pasted it and claims 102 pounds was lost. Then i checked other other websites and they claimed different weight losses lol.. I guess we know its between 102 and 120 lol
You have a link to your car? You plan on hitting the strip this year?

What do you mean the gt is heavier? I'm not sure if your saying the GT is heavier than the 2011 gt500 but if so thats not correct. We were talking about the 2011 gt500 and you mean its lighter not heavier than its predecessor...

Hmmn...if the 5.0s perform like this in the real world, no C5 has anything to worry about...a stock LS1 Camaro is beating it!!:

A catback is all you need change the sound. It's technically a mod, but the gains from it are pretty negligible. I'll be interested in seeing what they run in person. And that Mustang owner optioned it out right. That dark blue is beautiful.
