Drag Racer magazine has a really good article about "Broadway Bob" and Great Lakes Dragway. January issue.

I just read it a couple of days ago. More history there then I realised.

Bob runs that store at GLD and lives locally. He's very sharp for someone who kind of a drunk for most of the 80's. He started GLD sometime around 1957 and owned it and some other tracks for a long time. He has an interesting life story. I talked to him for an hour this past summer.

What stores usually carry that magazine? I love GLD and would like to get it.

Their website shows they will be open Saturdays and Sundays in November...weather permitting. I think GLD and US 41 are about the only 1/4 mile tracks still open within a reasonable distance.

Weather for both tracks looks decent at this point for Sunday. GLD - 45 and mostly cloudy. US41 - 47 and partly cloudy. Hopefully one of the two will be open come Sunday. Whichever is open I will be there.
