Coil pack reloations Please post some pics and where are you putting them.
Im thinking about relocating my truck coil packs off the valve covers to make more room. I wanted to know what wires everyone was using and is there a good relocation kit for truck coils. I know there are some for the car coils. What location on the car are you putting your coils?
What is a good race plug wire to buy?
Does anyone fab of a plate to mount the coils that you can buy?
thanks for anyone imput and please post up some pics of your set up. I did a search and only found a few under the car detailing section and none under the drag section.

If I keep the coils, I was going to put them inside, truck ones too. I was gonna use some plastic spacers, nuts and threaded rod to mount them together, and have 2 holes one on each side to run the wires thru. Less wires on the engine in the engine bay too, making everything just that little bit cleaner.

i didnt use a bulk head pass through like that just 2 holes in the firewall with grommets with the 4 wires per bank goin through with no problems not the best pictures but it def. cleans up the engine bay nicely with them tucked inside

well, its just not the best idea. as we know, spark traveling through a spark plug wire emits an EMF, which can actually fire another plug. its bad enough to just have the EMF being disturbed with a ground like the firewall, but if you're doing it like you're saying, you've bunched up the plug wires, 4 through 1 hole? not good. that can cause missfires. imagine if you're having misses at 5000 rpm on the jug?
the factory seperates plug wires for this very reason. i've heard of people burning up motors in trucks while towing because they zip tied the plug wires together.

Hmmm. That's interesting, I can see it being an issue, but have never heard of anynoe having a problem.
I'm considering the GM distributor front cover at this point anyway, if that ends up in the car this becomes a non-issue.
Problem with putting them down on the oilpan area is getting the plug wires up thru the headers without worrying about them melting.
Unless you have upswept turbo headers, then in that case there may be alot of room.

you can use that the entire length of the wire, heat shrink each end, then use some of those boot protectors, although i dont think you'd need em with an ls1.
also, doesnt vengance make a better front dist setup? i know someone came out with one recently, its cleaner and lighter than the GM setup.
