Thumbs up Another SUX2BU Setup

My buddy and myself put together a ram air setup for my car a few weeks ago. He did 90% of the work, so I snapped some pics along the way.

-We used 6" to 4" rubber couplers from Lowes instead of tin reducers.

-We used neoprene brake duct hose from Jegs instead of crappy dryer hose.

-We used two 4" exhaust tubes tack welded and urethane sealed to a metal plate fitted to the bottom of the stock air filter holder.

I think it turned out really nice. I won't have any real before and after results because I made a **** load of changes to my car over the winter (9", BMR Drag Bar, Draglites). What I can tell you is the car is just as quick at my local 1/8 mile track as it was last year, even with the extra weight from the 9" and the big sway bar. My best ever time there was 7.19 (it's a slow track), two weeks ago it went 7.20 with the new setup. I think maybe the ram air setup offset the extra weight/drivetrain losses with the new rear.

We split the cost of the neoprene hose (there's plenty to do two cars), so it ended up costing me about $75.

You can do it with the condensor in there. You're just going to have to squish the hose.

how did u keep the rubber couplers attached to the front bumper? i dont see any screws. did you just wedge it over the hump and it stays on while driving? and how does this setup do in the rain?

Man, I am diggin this setup. My car does have a problem with top end with the 3.73 gear and 3600 stall being loose at the end of the track. My trap rpm is around 6300-6400. If i can gain top end and mph from a simple $100 mod, I'm all for it.

you should get some kind of wind speed sensor and get it rigged up in there to see what kind of flow rate you are actually pulling through there.

No need for a wind speed sensor, you can just use the PCM's MAP sensor to see if you're actually seeing increased manifold pressure.
