Default Freak Cars

Not sure if this is where to post, But How many have had what I call freaks. What I mean is a High Horsepower motor with little to nothing done to it. I had a customer with a 02 SS A4, All that was done was a baby cam and I do mean baby, It was somewhere in the neighborhood of 204/211 with I think around 525 lift. It might of been an ole Z06 cam. Anyway after tuning it made 385 RWHP!! No one would believe this. I am talking Bone Stock less the cam, No exhaust, No aftermarket lid, Nothing.. Later he installed Headders, On the Dyno less tune it made 370 RWHP, After re-tune it made 390 RWHP. Insane.. He wanted to change cams and I told him to leave it. I also had an LT1, Stock less Headders, After tuning, made 335 RWHP?? Go Figure. And this was on different Dynos, Different Towns...

To me a freak car is just a car that was properly broke in to run like a scolded dog. Ive ran countless cars that shouldve walked me but i'd always be within a link, ahead or behind. Lotta folks thought my bros old 02 z28 m6 was a lil to mean for cam only/full bolt on car. Pulled 411rwhp with a 228r cam, pace setters, x-pipe, lid, with a tsp tune. Ran 12.20 @ 119.9 on the ugly ass 16in multi spoke camaro wheels with bridgstones on em. Im gonna see if i can get my z06 into the low 12's like 12.20-12.00's bone stock with a decent pair of street shoes. Last time i ran, my clutch was soon to be toast. I went 12.53 @ 114.xx w/ 2.01-60ft, then the clutch gave out on the next pass. WHOOPS

This was on slicks and skinnies, full suspension mods. My other customer with a "Bone Stock" LT1 less stall and a complete tuned suspension and a street tune went 13.00 Flat. I would not say this is a freak car but that is very good for a stock LT1. Oh and he had a trans brake also with slicks and skinnies..But still a strong run...

My car trapted 107.8 MPH in the 1/4mile bone stock with a 2.2 60ft. Semmed pretty good to me.

Dunno if my car could be called a freak.. But i have a complety stock LS2 engine with 2k miles on it. It hauls a 71'corvette c3 across the line on a 12.6 with tires spinning a little. Rear end is 3.70ratio.. DR's will be added sometime this. its an a4 btw, stock converter.

Later this year I will add headders, ud-pulley and a tune to see where that will take me.. Any ideas

I think there are more freak dynos than freak cars. It's not like the 60's when cam duration could be off by as much as 10 degrees or compression ratio could vary by half a point or more. Get both on the same car and you had a "freak". Machining on the new stuff is so precise, these cars don't vary a whole hell of a lot from one to the next. Talkings THOUSANDTHS here. Not nearly enough to account for giant leaps in horsepower.

my car dyno'd 311.9rwhp/319.4rwtq completely stock with cats and all just a k&n filter only. i added pacesetter l/t headers, custom made ory, flowmaster muffler,k&nfipk, untuned,98ss m6, and dyno'd 339.4rwhp/346.8rwtq. different dyno's though. i wish they had been on the same. all we have around here is an 1/8th mile track and my best time on street tires was 8.61 at 86mph and a 1.99 60' ofcourse that was after i aded the headers and all. i thought it was pretty good.
