Default My 503 rwhp 05 GTO in GMHTP's Street Heat (August 2009)

Thanks to Kyle Barnette for taking some great shots of my car and getting it in GMHTP's street heat section of the August 2009 issue!

For those that want to know a little more info, here's some background on the car. This car is a daily driver with excellent street manners. I have driven it over 4 hrs to various tracks just to race and cruised home in comfort. I attribute a lot of that to my own tuning (in addition to some carefully selected parts) as I have spent many hours on part throttle tuning to get the driveability near perfect. With the Magnaflow exhaust, it is relatively quiet inside the car. Full list of mods is as follows:

-Advanced Induction CNC ported 243 cylinder heads with stock valves, Cometic .040" MLS gaskets
-Flowtech Induction "Tiger Shark" camshaft, Flowtech "Gen IV" springs, titanium retainers, Manley hardened pushrods 7.375", Cadillac CTS-V lifters (fly cut pistons for clearance)
-45# injectors
-Yank SS3600 torque converter with B&M Supercooler 70264
-Kook's 1 7/8 long tube headers with off road mid pipes
-FAST 90mm intake manifold (ported)
-Magnaflow catback exhaust
-ASP underdrive crank pulley
-K&N cold air intake
-3.91 gears
-Dyno tuned by myself at JR Racing Performance Tuning
-Pedders 5/16" lift rear drag springs
-Air Lift #60759 air bags
-ARP wheel studs (rear)
-Weld Pro Star wheels (track): 15x3.5" front, 1.75" bs, 5x4.75" bolt pattern with Monarch 165/15 tires; 15x8" rear, 5.5" bs, 5x4.75" bolt pattern with 26x10-15 Hoosier Drag slicks
-Beyern Type 5 wheels (street): 18x8.5" front, 40mm offset, with BFG G-force sport 245/40/18 tires; 18x9.5" rear, 45mm offset, with BFG G-force sport 275/35/18 tires
-Rolled rear fenders with the Eastwood Fender Roller (tires would hit the fender on large bumps even with the Pedders springs)

And now for the dyno graph. To back up the dyno #'s let me say that my best eighth mile trap speed prior to the AI heads was 91.5 MPH (on a 7.46 ET, 1.62 60'). After the AI heads, and in similar density altitude, the car went 7.14 @ 98.6 MPH on a 1.57 60'. That's over 7 mph I picked up with the AI cylinder heads! It's also a lot of MPH for a car as heavy as the GTO. I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with AI! The gains exceeded my expectations and was nothing short of remarkable. Feel free to PM me for any more info, etc.

timeslip:

Just to back it up:

And some pics...

Great looking car and numbers. How do you like your AI heads? From the few lsx's that i have seen running them the results have been great. By the way i live right up the mtn in Asheville.

Love the AI 243's! Do you ever come down to Greer to race? Or Shadyside?

I used to go down to both of those places back in the day. Currently i'm in the market for another car, hopefully sometime this year i will be back in another one. I've been seeing more and more fbods around wnc and the upstate, can't wait.

Awesome GTO that I've ridden in myself (actually test drove it when it was just a baby). My car ran 10's last time out and when I ran beside Jeff at SDR in that Goat it was close.

What are the chances...Silverado_13, Boosted's blue Goat, and me all in the same August 09 issue of GMHTP Mag??? Small world.

I saw the car in there, congrats dude! That's a badass ride you have there! Any future plans, or is it pretty much where you want it?

Thanks! You know it's never enough! But ironically I just sold the car! Looking for a C6 Z06 now (and it will have AI heads as well!).

Cam specs are on the dyno sheet.

Congrats to the OP and the rest of the people who are in that magazine. It appears Ai puts out decent products across the board.
