Default Formato Tuned and Texas Speed H/C C6 Z06 586 NA rwhp

Hey all, just wanted to show a great example of a 07 C6 Z06 with Texas Speeds / PRC heads (milled .050) and cam package and our tuning. This car has much better than expected drive ability, and makes nasty NA power through out the rev band with a stock bottom end. The cam is a 242/252 650/650 114 +3, the car has a Vararam CAI, factory modded exhaust, our ported intake and throttle body and tuning.

Talk about bang for the buck:

I'm guessing compression is in the 11.9-12.1 range? What is the "modified" factory exhaust?

Compression on that motor is at 11.6:1 with them milled that much. That is our LS7S cam.

Which head gasket was used and what are the stock valve relief's at?

It should be with a stock LS7 head gasket and the stock -3cc valve reliefs in the piston.

I guess I don't understand how the compression is so low. From my math you took almost 8.5cc off the heads (.050). That brings them to about ~62cc. Based on what you say with the heads, stock pistons being -3cc, and a stock gasket (compressed .053), I come up with about 12.2 compression. This is factoring in a piston out of hole average of .008.

Please educate me on the math please.

Thanks

I thought valve reliefs on stock ls7 pistons were -7cc.They have 4 valve pockets for some reason.

Chad, I think the LS7 pistons do not come out of the hole such as the other LS motors do. Don't quote me on that, but I will check the next stock one I tear into just to verify. As far as compression math, you could always coax the cc numbers in compression calculators to duplicate the stock compression ratio of 11-1 and then make your changes in milling, gasket thickness, etc to find the new compression ratio. This is useful if you do not have the known compression height, or chamber volume.

Thanks for the reply. I did as you said and used the following values as a baseline. Figure stock compression of a LS7 is ~11:0

Bore 4.125
Stroke 4
Rod Length 6.067
Deck Height 0.008
Piston Relief 3cc
Compressed Head gasket thickness 0.06
Cylinder Head Chamber Volume 70cc
Static Compression ratio = 10.97

If you change the volume to 62cc and that being your only change, the compression factors out to about ~11:9.

I am not trying to take credit away at all from the results as they are awsome. I am trying to figure out the correct compression on this motor.

Thanks!

Chambers were closer to 64.5-65cc. And that piston isn't out of the hole on all cars...Jason and Trevor's Z06 cars both had them in the hole a few thou!

I would love to see some track numbers to backup these dyno numbers.

^I'm guessing they'll see 135 traps like that other C6 Z that was making 580 rwhp. Freakin crazy numbers!

The NPP exh was cut open rewelded perforated pipe removed and sound deadening stuff removed, REALLY LOUD, might improve the flow a small margin.
We may do a LSX 102 on there, at least the testing. The manifold we did for it picked up 14rwp and 17rwtq, one of the lower ones we have done but the tune was really aggressive and many time you need to retard timing with a denser air charge.
Stk head gaskets, the car does have headers on it but with the modified stk mufflers.
This car ran 6.8 @ 100mph 1/8th mi before the 100 hp gain from the heads and cam.
will be back at the track in the next few weeks. 135mph+ should be feasible.
