Default Stock/tune 2010 SS vs. Headers only dyno

First off... yes it is true, I'm still alive

Now, down to business.
I picked my car up the day after Thanksgiving and finally got it on the dyno on 12/2. The car had around 600 miles on it then and with a little tweaking, I got it up to 364rwhp/370rwtq. I had ordered a set of 1 7/8" Kook's headers with the hi flow cats and got them installed this past weekend. Tuesday 12/15 I strapped it back down to the dyno and tuned it again with the headers, at this point the car was showing 1600 miles on it. I'm pretty happy with the power it made, considering it is still running the stock cat back and stock air intake system on it. My next mod will be a TSP cold air kit. I talked to Jason at Texas Speed yesterday and he's supposed to have me one headed this way. I'll post up the before and after results of that mod as soon as it gets here.

BTW.. the dyno graph is SAE corrected.

Wait until you get a intake on it. We've had a couple pick up more than 18rwhp. It really wakes them up. I have sort of a stingy dyno yet still have had one or two break 400 with a intake/tune only.

Great gains! I've been thinking about making headers and a mid pipe the first mods on my G8. How's it sound?

I still can't believe how much louder it is with the headers and cats while still retaining the stock mufflers. I'm really holding off on buying a cat back until I hear something in person, I'm just really afraid that it would be too nasty with anything else. Keep in mind that my wife drives this car every day and I have some bitchy *** neighbors

That's definitely good to hear. My G8 sounds like a 6 cylinder (seriously). I want more sound, but love the looks of the stock exhaust. I don't think people are really gaining much performance changing out the axleback exhaust anyway, so I'll probably do the headers, mid pipe, and a tune.

Can't wait to see the gains with the intake!

Great job Scott! I sure wish I could have finished up our headers/xpipe/axleback done in time for you! We could have saved you some $$ & got you a axle back at the same time! Maybe you need a car for your wife so that you can try the new TSP system also!

I sent your intake out!!

Hey Scott, good to see you man.

Did your car have a lot of timing retard when stock? I tuned a 2010 SS the other day that was pulling 6 degrees @ WOT, in a bone stock untouched tune.

Every one of them I've tuned so far has been that way. Right now, my car has around 4-5* LESS timing than stock at WOT. Anything more than that and it was pinging like crazy. I'm going to try some colder plugs and a cooler thermostat and see if that helps it any.

Nope, it hasn't shown up yet

I'm guessing Jason shipped it via Pony Express or something

not bad for a 99% stock car. Now go throw a supercharger on it and it will make another 150hp and drive as nice as stock. I have been thinking of selling my trans am for a new camaro,I would throw a charger at it.

Thanks for posting the results. It would be interesting to know how much gain was from the "high flowing" catalytic converters and how much of the gain was from the headers.
