Default 402 L92 setup, 99 Formula

So I finally got a few pulls in before changing the cam. Overall I'm very pleased with how the car runs considering the cam is so far off. As for the A/F curve we fattened her up a little bit right after this pull. Setup is as follows:

99 Formula
TSP 402, PRC L92 heads (unmilled for roughly 10.8:1), PRC dual springs
Comp custom grind that is wayyy off for this setup (244/256 on a 114)
Stock L76 intake
Unported PTM 92mm throttle body
Truck 85mm MAF, FTP 104mm lid
ASP UDP
Stock water pump with stock thermostat and all other accessories
1 7/8" TSP headers, true duals w/ dynomax 18" bullets
T56, 9" rear with true-trac, 4:10s
295/55/15 MT drag radials

Pat G cam on the way now. Can't wait to see how she does.

Very nice build, congrats. You track your car much? Be interesting to see your track times compared to mine...we are within 11rwhp/3rwtq.

Thank you. I haven't tracked the car yet, but plan to soon as soon as the weather is getting nicer! I'll check out your track thread now.

Thanks! I'd be happy if the new cam can make similar peak numbers with some better driveability.

I also thought it was worth noting that with the following mods the car gained +46whp and +37 wtq peak, and in some areas a lot more than that:

Replaced SLP lid with FTP 104mm
Replaced stock MAF with 85mm
Replaced 3" ypipe and hooker catback with TSP true duals

Goes to show how restrictive those items were! Same dyno used, on different days obviously but similar weather conditions.

Not surprising. Most of the gains were probably from the dual exhaust, then followed by the MAF.

Good power for that cam. It carries nice up top. Low end torque is suffering though.

The MAF gained 20whp 12wtq, but most of that was only in the upper end. After the duals, it gained an additional +26whp and +26wtq up top and a whole lot more down low. Definitely worthwhile mods.

I agree about the cam and it's characteristics though. It may actually work out well with something other than a composite intake manifold. The low end was much worse (50wtq from 2500-3500) before the duals went on.

That's in line with what we typically see from the same mods.

good job on the combo. That cam really is not that far off. 114 would not be my first choice, but it helped the engine carrie power up top.

Wish I was in town because I would be looking for ya

Good #'s fella, My car made almost the same exact #'s. If your not happy with bottomend torque, I would almost say shrink the cam a little. I'm running an MS3 on a 114 and made about the same #'s with PRC 2.5 5.3s. Made a crap load of down low torque because of it, probably because I am in the 11.?-1 CR too which helps greatly. Damn I wish I was back in DE with my 99. Post up up how she does at Cecil. I am very curious what she'll run, never had a chance for a good run with mine.

Thanks man. As stated above I have a custom cam on the way as this one is no where near it needs to be. Most with my setup run a cam near 10 degrees smaller on both sides and have a lot better luck doing so - to be honest I'm surprised this combo broke the 500 mark, lol. Too bad you aren't back around, it would be fun to get them together (as well as Josh's TA from the post above.) I'm curious as to what she will run as well, so stay tuned.

Damn right bro, add (BLUESLPCAMARO) Joey to that list. Would be a hell of a good time for sure Drew. Maybe next summer though and I should be back in North Carolina again and will be around quite a bit. It'll be a Race Proven 408 crew in Northern DE lol. Beat my times at the track bro. 12.1@122, yes I know its pathetic but couldn't risk breaking the car before shipping it to Alaska. Even though it broke on the way up here lol.

Anyways, I'll keep my eye out for new numbers fella shortly since the new cam will be in soon

I am surprised I never saw this thread. My cam is little smaller than yours. 240/251 63x/62x 114 and it was spec'd by Geoff at EPS. Its going in a 416 that I am still putting together. I don't see how that cam is far off if this cam that Geoff just spec'd for me is barely smaller.
