Default Picked up 20 rwhp on N/A Vmax 6.0 with methanol kit dyno testing today

I had a friend want to try out something on the dyno so we spent about 2 hours simulating real world conditions today.

This was on a Mustang 1100se dyno simulating exact weight and aerodynamic loading of the vehicle. Also this dyno has the new 1/4 mile testing setup.

We did this on a almost stock 07 Silverado Vortec Max LS2 6.0L that we first completely dialed in to a best of 310 rwhp after making several pulls retuning and dialing it to the least detonation and knock retard we could on 91 octane with the 101 degree heat today. Truck is bone stock with an air intake and dual exhaust.

the air intake temps were about 130-140 degrees on the logs on all of the pulls in the shop with it being very hot today.. We were only able to get about 23 degrees of timing without alot of knock retard @ 13.0 a/f ratio.

We ran it twice on the 1/4 mile simulation and got 14.6 @ 95 mph.

methanol test

He installed a snow performance kit with the smallest nozzle and did some testing on the street... Logs show air intake temps from street testing drop from 110 degrees to about 50-60 when the methanol comes on, also all knock retard goes away with 28 degrees of timing in the truck.

On the dyno...we first ran it with the methanol with no computer changes and got 324 rwhp with an airfuel ratio of mid 11's. With no cooldown time and a quick WOT PE tuning change to pull out a bunch of fuel when the meth comes on...we made another pull.

Results:
330 rwhp with an a/f ratio of about 12.2-12.4 throughout the pull. We didnt want to lean it out any further since good air (60-80 degree temps) alone would lean it out with better air. Zero knock retard...we probably could of gotten a few more just dialing the airfuel leaner.

I think im going to install a kit on my 00 SS that is a 11.75:1 compression 510 rwhp forged 346" and needs some Torco mix with 91 octane to get 28 degrees of timing on a cool day and usually runs less timing in the 100 degree heat....ill be back with those results in a week or two.

Interesting. I've been wondering why we don't see more people running meth with high compression NA. I'd say it's a decent bang for the buck if you can dial it in yourself.

Sounds like a good idea. Lower IAT's really help make power.

+1 I'd definitely be interested in something like this. Even for an extra 10 hp it'd be worth it.

its NOT an LS2 it is an L76. It has VVT and AFM and also has L76/L92 style cylinder heads.

I've got the same truck nice results.
