Default Might be weird..

But can someone tell me what a detailing kit is? Can you get them for cheap? What do they do?

Like I mentioned, this post might sound weird. I came on this website as a joke with my boyfriend (he is obsessed with cars) but maybe you guys can help. He talked about wanting a detailing kit or something like it I think.

Thanks a lot guys.

Give me some idea how much you want to spend.

Less than 100? Can you get a good set for that?
I don't know, really.
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff.

Asking for a "detailing kit" is actually pretty vague for anyone to go by. You can buy any number of products for less than $100. Maybe consider buying some quality products from Zaino or Tropi-Care and some of the detailing equipment from Autogeek. I will PM you some links (since board sponsorship is an issue here) and you can browse around for yourself. Tropi-Care actually has a nice "basic kit" for around $100. Then post up with any other questions.

What you need depends on the condition of paint and how much time you want to put into it. Are you looking for just a spray on and walk away application or a 10+ step process?

As PSU_98 said, Zaino or Tropicare. A detailing kit is something that has several items in it to help a car look better and cleaner, whether it's inside or out.

If my girlfriend went on LS1tech to ask questions, I'd be thrilled to death! Haha.

A detail kit is a bunch of products, such as car wash, wax, tire shine, etc, that you would use to basically clean the car really well, often times inside and out. When you "detail" a car, you are basically giving it an extremely thorough cleaning, interior and exterior. You would wash it, claybar it, wax it, and clean everything inside.

Here's an example of a nice detailing kit: http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...oduct_Count=22

And props to you for coming on the website to find out what he is looking for. The only question is whether or not he will see you on here and know what you are buying for him (if it's supposed to be a surprise). What year and kind of car does he have and what's his screen name on here?

I always try to impress him by talking about car stuff and whatnot; usually it just makes him laugh because I never really know what I'm talking about. He is a member on this website so thats how I know about it but he lives down south now so he wouldn't be looking on this regional thing.

I'm learning though! I know that my car has a v6 engine. and i know about headers! And a stall (i think thats what its called) that makes you go faster by a second. ha, impressive i know :-)

You can PM it to me if you want. I just wanted to see what kind of car he has and its condition so I would know what products you should be looking at.

You want to really test him as a boyfriend? Buy him exactly what you were thinking: an auto decal kit for his car with a bunch of flowers and stuff on it and totally seriously tell him that's what you thought he wanted when he opens it. If he responds well to it, give him the real detailing kit; if he's a jerk, show it to him and then return it.

That's a good one, too. There are quite a few options that vary depending on how much you want to spend.
