I had tint done to my old F-Body and it never stuck all that well to the dot matrix. I assume you pretty much need to use the vinyl to prevent that? Just curious because I haven't yet tinted this car since I didn't want the ugly bubbled look around the dot matrix.

Yes we cover the dot matrix with the vinyl so you dont see the bubbles. It makes it look perfect.

I assume you could also remove old tint?

The car had 2 layers on it, and the P/O "removed" one layer, leaving it looking crappy.

Ahh, I just love having a medical waiver legal limo tint all around my gto (thank you wifey).
It helps keep the cabin cooler and the leather from fading. It is worth it to get tinted people but keep in mind that even with a waiver, your front brow (if you get) cannot be below the DOT line on the windshield. Bastards at DMV made me trim like 2" off to comply with "Safety" aspect of inspection.
Also know that you can still get pulled over (primary offense) in some states so don't be riding dirty.
