my wife and I were on our way home from the movies in my camaro in york city. we stop at a traffic light about 3 cars back. i didnt even have my radio on, wife and i were just talking. some riced out imports were in front of us revving their engines to hell and booming their music so damn loud. it was quite irritating to be honest. all of a sudden i hear a knock on my pass window and see a bicycle cop standing there and he asks me to pull over???? meanwhile the light turned green and it was an all out drag race right in front of us by the imports. the cops proceeds to just stare at the street racers and asks if i knew why he pulled me over??? i kinda chuckled and said" was it because i didnt blair my music and rev the shit out of my car like those guys just did?" he ignored me and said its because your tint is too dark.. i was like WTF, you are writing me up for tint and you just sat their and watched what just went down with those punk kids??? by this time i was sooo pissed. wife was trying to calm me down but them i got alittle shitty with him and as soon as he gave me the fix it ticket, i reved the car so i couldnt hear him speak to me and dropped the clutch..... never got the tint removed, just had an inspection station write off saying i removed it and from here on out i have the windows down if i go into the city. that same night i saw a LEO outside the city at a sheetz and asked him about the ticket....he basically told me its up to the dicression of the officer. his words to me was" stay out of the city, those guys are assholes!" LOL

when did tint in pa become illegal? my buddies brother always got away with his tint in pa and here in jersey because the car was legalized out of philly and i just got out of a school with a guy from philly who still thinks tint is legal. I never heard pa banned it, that sucks.

The law in PA is that no less than 70 percent of light has to pass through the window. What is easily confused (by cops who have pulled me over even) is that tint is rated by how much light is filtered by the tint. So 30% tint is equal to the law of 70 percent. This nonsense about only factory tint is allowed is BS. Are the cops gonna carry a book that shows factory tint on every vehicle?
Tint is not illegal in pa and I wish people would stop passing that table x fact sheet off as law. It was never passed as law it was a table used for inspection stations until the law requiring them to fail inspections on da3k tint was repeeled. There are only 2 laws on the books about tint and I've read the vehical code to make sure. The one stands tint is legal as long as you can see the intior of the car the other law says all tint is illegal unless covered by the fvmss205(this is a standard not a statue which means its not passed as law) here's the kicker since the 70s all manufactors had to build there cars to this stabdard. That law however does not state it is illegal if it doesn't meet the stadard. Just says unless its covered by it.
You basically have 3 choices 1 fix it 2 don't and pay the fine or 3 contest it in court and know how to argue law. Btw district justice won't rule in your favor you will have to take it to a real court after the dj rules against you.

i got pulled over a log time ago for tint on my windows and i got the same crap i have 5 days to remove it or i get a ticket that was back in 2000 and up to today i still have not gotten a ticket in the mail! and btw you can have tint on your windows just NONE on the front two driver side passager windows.
Huff035. Did the tint meter read 13% or is that what you had put on your car? I had 20% put on my car and when I got pulled over it read 13.5% on his meter so from the factory our cars came with a small amount of tint. The cop gave me 5 days to take it off but I cheated. I went to junk yard and pulled some stock windows off a Firebird and put them on my car to show him I removed the tint. When I got home I just put my tinted ones back on. I made a write-up on how to swap windows but I will have to find the post later because it’s on a different site.

What suggestions do you need...If its illegal I would remove it...alot of peoples car would look better w/ tint not only yours...the choice is yours if you wanna roll the dice everytime you pass a cop or not. Keep the hatch tinited.

The cop is wrong, research it. The rear window can be tinted any % in PA. Only the driver and pass side windows are regulated.
