now which one should i get???

i can get a new 90amp flux/ gas welder for around 200 (should be good for up to 1/4" on 2-3 passes)

OR an air compressor capable of 5cfm for around 180 and tell my parents and gf to get me air tools for the holidays

Rented this (pilot bearing specific) removal tool from Advance and all it did was slide over the bearing ,the jaws on the puller don't grip around the back of the bearing, they just press out on the inside of it. Wondering about the "pack with greese and pressure it out", has anyone had success with that or should I look for another type tool?
