The reason for the foam is in the hoods design. Thats a cheap aftermarket hood. There is a top piece and a bottom piece, they are glued together. It's not solid SMC like OEM.

Being how it's two piece there is a gap between the two pieces, the hood will not have a sealed duct from the scoop to the front of the airlid. When air goes into the scoop it leaks out into the entire hood. This can be tested with water, an OEM hood will direct water from the scoop to the front underside. This hood will allow the water to go into the scoop and leak out where ever.

Not that any of this matters, I just had one of these and traded it away because of the poor design.

The reason for the foam was my buddy (the original owner) who "was not thinking clearly at the time."
Thinking the hood was too flimsy he decided to fill it with great stuff
Doing good stuff with that hood
awaiting final pics

Well his dumb idea would have made the scoop more funtional, unless he filled the ducting too.

I was in New York when this hood was being sold and I couldn't get it. I wanted it though. Glad you got it because you seem to have good knowledge on getting that thing vehicle ready. Glad it is brought back to life. John
