Pulling the trans out, and going to freshen it up and install the Griner transbrake. Between that and the new rearend, I will be able to leave under boost instead of vacuum!

Very Nice Chris!!!!!!

Hate I missed seeing it in person but I had to settle up on work repayment to a few friends so dedicated the weekend to them.. think we are all square now so when the rear end comes in I can get to paying you back for some long hours on the vette!

Very impressive start and first outing to the track, I think you did it perfectly, so that you have a baseline to start from and work your way up.

How did the car feel at 130? stable on those M&H Drag Radials? were they holding traction when boost came on?

gimme a ring tonight after 8 man! wanna hear some more about it!

Chris

Very stable, 1 hand on the wheel was all that was needed. Tires worked great, but I didn't give em too much of a workout.
I will call you tonight.

The last pass of the day was the best, I was getting braver, and brake torqued it a bit, but I missed 3rd gear, (damn stock shifter!) it went to neutral, bounced off the rev limiter for a moment, I grabbed it back to 3rd right before the traps.
That pass was a 1.9768 sixty ft.... 7.5271 1/8.....101.57 1/8....11.4841 @ 122.27

Before that I ran a 2.0969 sixty... 7.803 1/8.... 101.17 1/8... 11.62 @ 129.89

As soon as that 60ft drops, the et will come way down.
Probably 3 more weeks, and I will have it ready for kill mode.

Looking forward to seeing what this beast will do with everything polished up and a man sized transbrake boosted launch and some mansized boost through the ole motor!

Default gasket question

Will those ls9 gaskets work with ls6 heads on a lq9 block, 370 ci with approx. 9.3 compression and running up to 15 psi of boost? I'm getting ready to put my motor together and want to make sure I get this right the first time. The other question I have is about the bore size. If you have a 4.0 bore wouldn't you want a gasket closer to a 4.030 than a 4.1 so you don't have carbon build-up in the gap? Just trying to learn. Thanks

You don't want too small of a bore. In my case it would not match up to the custom combustion chamber of my heads. With large valves you could run into some shrouding issues too.
The LS9 gaskets should work fine for you, but take my advice, check them on the block and the heads to make sure you won't have any issues before cinching them down for good.

Have not had it on scales in years, probably around 3500 or so.

That mile mile per hour is good for an easy 10.50 pass with just a good 60'.

It will be interesting to see what the different rear gear does as well as a the trans brake. Third gear was toast in the trans too.
The great thing is that was only 8psi.

12 psi right now, without 1 hint of problems. The difference between 8 and 12 psi is impressive.

Bringing back an old thread, but I have a question. Is it possible to run LS9 gaskets on 317 heads on a 5.7 block? or should i stick with the standard 6.0 gaskets?
