Default Add another S480 Build to the ranks!

Add another S480 build to the ranks! We are building Tim99ws6’s 99 TA. “Christine”
After last years busted in half TH350 on a 200shot we decided its time to go bigger.

The goal for this car is pretty simple, 9.50’s all day long no matter the weather, track conditions/location. Also had to make 800hp and be able to make the trip down to the local car shows(and win)/cruisins.

Specs are pretty simple, Forged LS1 with 6.0 heads, Trans braked TH400, 9”, S480, and an A2W intercooler. Using Josh at KY turbos Logs with his Crossover.

We have A LOT of build pics these are some to catch you up to were we are today. Still got a LONG way to go but its getting there….

Before

After
]

Heres the step by step way we cut back the cowl to keep it from look all hacked to shit!!!
1. Cut off front lip

2. Drill out rivets and cut out brace.

3. Trim back top cowl piece to where you want the final product to be. Then start working the lower piece up to the top. Starting on pass side and working to the driver is the easiest way. Also a small floor jack works great. DO NOT beat it in with a hammer unless you’re a great metal worker. The dents and dings will look like shit. Us a jack and a piece of wood or some scrap sheet metal.

4. Once you get it tacked in place all the way over you can start trimming the excess. It should start to look good

5. Next start seam welding and grinding. This one shows you a great example of what it starts out looking like and the final product. Down low on the right side of the pic if final product toward the middle of the car is still needing some grinding/welding.

6. for us and a lot of you FI guys will flip your intake. heres our preliminary hole. We are still working on fabbing up a “tunnel” though the cowl area. We will be using an extended/reworked firewall flange with Vbands.

7. This is the final step to really pull it all together. Sadly we haven’t got to that point lol. What you want to do is lay down a nice skim coat of body filler (Rage Extreme) and fill in any imperfections. Here is where we are at on the cowl…

Heres some random pics of the build process. Basicly if theres a hole in the engine bay its getting filled… so pay no mind to the welds its all getting sanded down and smoothed. Pretty much everywhere you see metal was a hole…It sucks, takes forever, but the end result is going to be outstanding!

Now for the motor plate! This is pretty much where we are at right now. We just got the plate mocked up and the brackets welded in. Im almost positive there isn’t a motor plate out there that is even close to this. Anyone with a log manifold setup knows that you cant use the ones on the market right now since they mount to the side of the frame rail. This is from a new company that we are working with that will be offering these along with different variations VERY soon. We will keep there name out since I don’t think they are a sponsor yet but when they do become a sponsor you guys will be in love! They have some other products planned that we will be testing that will fill the turbo guy needs. Stay tuned!

haha wanna race to see who gets done first? Here is what we have left on the "to do" list

1. Install nasty Nates fuel system.
2. Install front half of the cage (chromoly 10 point with funny car cage).
3. Install remote master cyl and drag brakes.
4. Shorten axle (this might wait till after the shootout)
5. Install wheelie bars and chute.
6. Finish smoothing engine bay. mount radiator, mount remote water pump.
7. Paint cage and engine bay.
8. Rewire entire car, install the FAST XFI.(goal is to not have ANY wires except the harness under the intake manifold visible). All wires in the engine bay are routed through the frame rail ie. head lights, water pump, fans, horn etc..
9. Install and route the intercooler and charge piping.
10.Put the interior back together.
11. Send her our for a full body wrap...

There's probably 100 little things in the middle of all that but you get the idea... While we are building this car we are also doing a full LS1 drivetrain swap on a 56 belair and building my TC-78 LT1 road race/street car! needless to say there is never a dull moment in the shop....

Heres a thread I started for it on our local board. ALOT has changed in the front half of the car since i last updated.. pretty much had to rebuild the whole radiator support area to fit that MASSIVE radiator. Its really nothing special but it should be a blast to drive

Time for an update. Things are moving a little slower than some of the builds on here but we are still making progress so thats all that matters
