I wouldn't recommend a six rib on a V7-YSi, you'll have enough problems trying to keep an 8 rib from slipping.

Because the 6-rib belt is narrower, say.....25%. Even the standard G-Trim version runs an 8-rib.

It depends entirely how fast he wants to spin it, and how much boost etc.

6 rib can work fine for low outputs.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the YSi. Kind of like getting a $3000 hooker for a hand job

Very true. But he doesnt even suggest he has anything other than a stock motor. He wants to use a stock balancer.

So it points to me, he's trying to fit this unit to a stock engine. Which in that case....I'd think a 6 rib would be fine.
I fitted my YSi to a stock 346 when I first started, the 6 rib worked just fine

Although admittedly.....it only stayed that way for about 3-4 weeks lol.

If you are going to invest in pulleys anyway, why not stick with the 8-rib and change the stock balancer? You're going to have to do it sooner or later anyway.

Or seeing as you have a 6 rib balancer...and an 8 rib blower....

just put a 6 rib belt on it. Costs nothing.

I wouldn't go smaller than the 3.80". I'll bet you would run into slippage issues with a smaller pulley and 6-ribs. Maybe see 6-7#?
