Default I love it when a plan comes together...awd VAN beats ZR1.

Video link....added

Benneliwang took this video, he owns the twin turbo c5 I did awhile back.

Well, the awd turbo van went back to the track. And it was a very good night.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway, heat warning advisory out for the day, possible new record for the day. I dont know the da....Id guess atleast 5000, probably 6000 or higher.

I have not touched the waistgate controller since building the van, its on the spring only STILL.

THERE IS VIDEO, and yes the van beat a NEW 638 hp ZR1. I commend the guy for even taking it to the track. He was completely cool, and obviously has considerable funds. He said he had the car for about 4 months and has had it to the road course already too. He also has a gtr. The vette ran a 13.02 @121. The van ran a 13.34 @ 99 and beat the vette with 1000-2000 people watching. Ihad a .260 rt to the vettes .800.

ZR1 . VAN
.800 .260
2.477 1.929
6.153 5.461
8.881 8.466
89.94 81.43
11.157 11.091
13.028 13.340
121.28 99.06

Needless to say, the crowd went crazy. It has more in it too. The wideband dies before I even got to the track, so I reverted to my old turbo buick tuning ways. If I didnt build it, and run it, I would even call bs on hearing what this thing is and what it runs.

It has a 4l80e in it, but lke Zombiess other thread, regarding gears again...well, the van only shifts ONE TIME and goes through in SECOND. (although it maybe faster even if I sort shift it too, further testing) It has a 2.48 first, 3.73's, 29 inch tire, and weights about 6600 while racing the zr1. I had one passenger while the vette was only the driver. All the excuses in the world will surface......I have NO doubt people will call bs, that the vette is faster etc....but IN THE REAL WORLD, THE VAN GOT THE LINE FIRST, and would DESTROY virtually every ZR1 on the STREET.

Video will be posted, and pics of the slip....and more pics of the van. BY far the most popular car at the mm event. BTW, we were gonna take 6 people out but only 5 rode out in the van to the track. It ran at about 3/4 tank full, with passenger, on 91 octane with water meth and the electric cutout OPEN.

Still 51 psi in the 275/45/20's.....

No excuse can over come........"but its a van"

Cool! I wish that van was out my way so I could come and see it.

The only thing I don't understand.... if the van ran a 13.340 and the ZR1 ran a 13.028... well those are seconds in the 1/4 mile right? If the ZR1 ran a lower time, didn't it win??

Looks like the vette had a much slower reaction time (.800 vs .260)...

He beat him on the timeslip as a result of his much better re-action time, but not really blew the ZR1's doors-off as the title would tend to mislead you. Nevertheless, it's still one quick van.

You guys are having way to much fun, but need to get out of hell. Take that baby over to the coast were you have some air to run in. I have a friend who lives in Vegas and he brokers exotics and hot rods. He tells me anything with some balls overheats.

There is video....I dont have it, zombiess does. Hell load it shortly, prob when he wakes up.

The thread said, beat.....not blow the doors off, and no offence but a win is a win......and the VAN WON. The van was also faster then ALL the other vettes except one z06 that had work and ran 12.6...I think. Also faster then heads, cam, header, tune g8. Also faster then g8 with maggie, and the other g8s, and faster then all but one mustang I think... Faster then ALL but one 4th gen f body, but the one faster has a 454 lsx....

A friend with considerable experience (15 years and former track champ I think) took his na modded busa and ran a best of 10.65 @ 132 also.....There were alot of bikes running 12's.

Traction is a much greater issue at lvms then the heat it is...there are very few rwd cars that can get sub 2.0 60's on a normal midnight mayhem event...and a 6600# van is one of em

Turbo Van Pics

That last pic is the best. Two GTRs, a ZR1, a Trans Am that was running high 10's and everyone wanted to look at a freaking Van.

DA was 4900 at 11pm. Since I was spectating all night I got to see a lot of stuff running really slow.

Two different C6 Z06's were in the mid-low 13's. By the end of the night the one ran a 12.7 @ 114 mph. There were 2 GTRs there and the fastest I saw was mid 12's @ 115-118.

Lotta fun

Another video showing the van in stealth vs race mode

Don't get me wrong, you guys worked that ZR1 and nothing is funnier than seeing that van get up and go like that but this statement is... well not accurate. I mean c'mon I don't understand how you can say that the van would destroy virtually every ZR1 on the street when all you did was work a bad driver with a horrible reaction time.

ZR1 on 20's (bling bling *****) = no traction ever. The 1/8 mile time tells the story (which is about what most street races are that i've witnessed). On a Midnight Mayhem the track hooks slightly better than the streets around here.

Yea right. I have driven plenty of highly modified ZO6s and they hook comparably to a ZR1 and they get plenty of traction, more than enough to take care of the van. The driver sucked, period.

So you are saying that in that one out of a hundred chance you run into the driver who actually knows how to drive a zr1 on stock wheels and tires, the van loses on the street in a 1/8 mile race... sounds good to me.

Fact is my low 10sec Camaro get's pulled for around 330' by a f'n van in a street race before I can catch him
