Good luck, Tom
that doesn't sound like a street car setup lol

exactly! I follow those threads, but I just hoped this tranny would last. It is the first one I have broken on the street, all the others were on the track. I was hoping if I kept it off the track the tranny would be ok, fail.

lol, if you aren't gonna make any more power, I think you will be fine.

I will fix and keep the t56 though, I have another car that is more mild that I will install it in.

I thought I remembered Harlan (y2khawk) posting about his T56 case actually flexing back in the day. I know he posted in depth on the issue but it must have been on LS1.com because it took me forever to find this tidbit on here.

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/1151871-post116.html

Something to think about if nothing else,

Larry

I love both Stalled autos, and manuals, and i have owned both. I have to say for ease of Launching and drivability, Get a stalled 80E and call it a day. My turbo car (85 Monte SS with a 5.3 and turbo) will definitely be an auto with a stall when its finished. whereas, the firehawk will stay a 6 speed, even with a new NA motor in it. If nothing else, give the auto a go and swap back if you dont like it

The dog ring doug nash/g-force/liberty unit is not very nice to drive on the street..., but oh so sweet on the drag strip...

4l80e is the best option for you! not sure how long the th350 would hold at 1000+hp. your car is way to heavy (imho) for a glide! th400 would be awesome but dont have OD! so if you got the cash and dont mind extra weight the 80e is the ONLY option! if not the 80e the th400 would be the next logical decision!

i had a 6 speed and now have a 4L80E Do it and dont look back, if you look around you can do it pretty cheap, I traded my built 6 speed and all swap parts to another user on here for all the swap parts for the 80E + the transmission, It is supposed to be a Rostler but I never checked, I just ran it and it has held up great for 10,000+ miles and 30+ dragstrip passes, now I am not making near the power you but I aim to change that soon.

Because of cost, I dont ussually go the 480e route. Zombiess runs 2.75 gears and a 28 tire with a rossler 400. While I wouldnt drive it cross country unless I had too, I ve driven it 50 miles on the hiway. In one of my cars I have 3.25's but a 315/60....and th400.

In the turbo van I did a rossler 4l80e.....and its perfect. While its not a 1000 hp...it probably is 600 at 6600 lbs or more most of the time, and IS a 100% daily driver , family wagon, and cross country cruiser.

You have the power to gear it higher....Id go 2.73's or so....and a th400. I run 2.73s in my wifes 98 turbo ss and its nice enough for her to drive to work on the freeway in the fast lane with a short tire.

Im leaning towards a TH400 with the GVO on it

I pulled the trans out today, the input shaft feels like there is nothing attached to it, it spins freely lol. I guess I'll get LMR to quote fixing this shit so I can use it on my 94.

Tiago. Will the GVO make the 400 a 6 speed? i know they are out here in SD but i have never stopped by. Also, does it effect the durability at all? ( I.E. a Trans can handle 800~ to the wheels, would the GVO then become the weak point?) looks like a good choice man!

yes it makes it a 6 speed, and they are rated at 1200 hp normally, they can beef them up to 2000 hp if asked.

I wonder if there is something flexed/twisted with your case..... causing something to have tolerance issues.

I beat the crap out of my stock internal t56 with 650rwhp..... launched it at 5500rpm lifting the tires, 1.6 60', 3800+lbs, and it ate it all.

The hydraulics on the other hand..... the hydraulics didnt like launching like that... 2nd gear took forever to engage... resulting in only a low 11 at 128mph.

Im about 2hrs away from finishing my 4L80E swap.... cant wait. I suggest a FLT 4L80E or a Rosler TH400.

I bet if you would have sent your first T56 to sixspeedsinc, you would have never had a problem. Just thinking that because theres hit 8's and pulled like a 1.3 60' and holds up.
