i have a newbie question... why is it that people go with 5.3 vs LQ4's for boost... the 5.3 will hold better boost??

6.0 in stock form you cant lower the compression with a head swap. 5.3 w/ 6.0 heads you can get 8.6:1 compression. Also a smaller diameter piston will have more structural integrity and withstand more abuse. And they are DIRT CHEAP!! I see them all over complete for like $350. 6.0L's tend to go for a bit more. My 5.3L has taken some abuse, stock shortblock 15psi and a 50 shot of spray, 3 years and still running strong...and im not easy on stuff

got a little bit of tuning done... but i have some damn KR that i cant get rid of!

AFR/LAMBDA is damn close either dead on or a lil rich.... timing is dropped to almost nothing, and im still getting KR. The weird thing is its not consistant...

I think it may be false knock so im gonna get some octane booster and see if it goes away....

Its gonna be nasty! Boost is instant! I keep accidentally getting into boost! I cant wait till its tuned!

You said you were running just a downpipe and no exhaust ? Could your KR be coming from that?

FWIW, i used two of those cheap 10" fans on my turbo setup, had them as pushers - worked fine as pushers. tried them as pullers - car would get super hot.

I am not going from LT1 to 5.3, and I will be using flex-a-lite fans this time around

Great job. I wish i had half of the motivation you do. The sad part is I do have a small garage, but I do have a s10 getting a motor in the way hindering my progress/motivation.

I spent enough time being a driveway warrior my self so I feel ya. That just makes it even better to feel it run.

Glad to see my old turbo kit being used. Got tired of it sitting on the shelf hahaha. Im jealous that yours is together. I Still have to wait a little longer. And I probably will have to run the truck NA for a while. Turbo builds are not that bad... its swapping a new motor into an older vehicle, and not having a complete motor, is what kills the budget. God I think I spent a thousand dollars on bolts, and sensors

Get a good video of the BOV and exhaust please. I still wanna use the rfl on mine.

well its not a good quality video but this is at 14psi and 20* timing.... this is where it will stay at...

I need different gears and tranny/stall... i am currently running 9" with 3.70's, stock 4l60e, and vig 3600.

The tranny is slipping and the 3600 vig is flashing to 5300!!!! LOL, if you listen to the video close you can hear it!

Gonna have to save all winter and hope i have everything ready for next spring!
