Yeah, I'll be there, just not with the car. It won't be running and tuned by next weekend. I was in final stages of tuning on my 05 R1 Raven Turbo when I blew 3rd gear on the freeway. Have to drop the motor and split the cases to get to the tranny so that put me out. I had just installed a fully built motor (stock tranny) and were were doing the 30psi tuning ~450rwhp and the stock tranny gave out. I should have known better so this time round a fully built trans is going in...but not in time for the OCT race. I'll be there running both the car and the bike come MAR though
Good luck but I think you will be disappointed with your results. Weight is no where near of a factor for the Texas Mile as Horsepower is. And your wide body will only hinder you further. I know there is one WB Supra(name escapes me Amed B or something like that) that has more horsepower than SW yet ran slightly slower due to his wide body. Texas Mile is all about Aero and HP.
And I'm not hating just being honest. Your car is defiantly sick.
SW's record is 246.2 MPH btw.
I gonna have to agree this this guy....your not going to get there.....

Amit's car can compete with SW, it ran several 242s on 30 lbs of boost...
imagine when its on 40lbs (made 14XX boost only). Its just a matter of the stars aligning.
I am sure the little RX7 will run real strong at 1300 rw if it can stay stable

Thanks for the props. I think many of you have missed the bus though. This isn't a 100% purpose built land speed car. With the finances I had, I could have built a jet powered tube car if I was just after a record lol! I set out to build the most exotic, and well rounded streetcar foremost - with emphasis on the Mile. I'll be doing autocross, roadrace, TXMile, and most importantly cruising around on the street 99% of the time. An insane power to weight ratio with a 50/50 f/r weight split and race car suspension and brakes makes for a FUN RIDE. I'm building this car for me and nobody else so that I can drive it and ENJOY IT. I'm not set on smoking all the competition at the mile- as long as I'm having fun! Besides, 1500-1600rwhp is only a pulley swap away if I deem it necessary.
It's not only about power. Since I'm anywhere from 600-1000+lbs lighter than the other big power cars (vetts, vipers, supras etc) it won't take as much power. Power to weight ratio on this car is 1.7lbs per horse. Run the calculations for any of the current record holding cars... For example, a 3800lb turbo supra would need 2400hp to have an equivalent power to weight ratio.
I'll tune it in safely to 1300rwhp and see how she does. Anything beyond that will be taxing the drivetrain beyond what I had originally planned and what it is built to withstand.
At those speeds power to weight ratio meens less. Wind resistence and rolling resistence are your biggest enemies. Adding those super wide fenders probably added a lot of drag. But I'm a salesmen by trade, and I think you said your an engineer.. so I would assume you've taken this highly into consideration

On a side note the Veilside Fortune Rx7 body kit is WICKED. Now I am tempted to buy and 93-97 Rx7 and throw in a LS3/4L60E combo with that body kit, lol.
The kit is 11 grand though
When the time comes I will make the GTM/ Custom Rx7 decision.
P.S.
93formto98T/A I think I have found a Automatic transaxle that would work find in the GTM and still take a moderate level of power (700 hp since the car weighs 2400lbs with driver) and use a trans controller to make it fully electronic.
Wish this car was done for the TX mile. I would be curious what the new aero CD drag is now? Stock is .29 or .30 depending upon which magazine you read
That will turn heads for sure. Just wonder how it will perform.
We'll be at the TX mile with my buddies LSx powered RX-7. We are shooting for 190mph n/a.
Someone asked.... but FD stands for the following:
1st gen RX-7 FB
2nd gen RX-7 FC
3rd gen RX-7 FD (sold in us 93-95; however continued to sell in Japan/Australia until 2001 I believe. I think the OBD-II smog/computer stuff scared them and at the time a $35-40K 2 door sports car wasn't selling as well as expected over here. The '99 RZ model (track oriented setup) got better brakes, 17" rims and few other tweaks. It received a revised bumper with slightly better aero and larger inlets for improved cooling and different rear spoiler.)
For you interested in a Kit Car. Also look at the Race Car Replica SLC aka Super Light Coupe. The finish on the body is 10x better than the GTM, it is designed with better parts, takes less time to assemble (comes as a roller), and the body work will be less as you can simply order the color gel coat you want and then it is essentially done. Comes out of the mold with minimal body work needed (ie no paint). With an LS7/G50 trans it is supposed to weigh 2200lbs wet. You can also run a Ricardo transaxle (from a Ford GT) that can handle 1000rwhp+; however they are something like 100lbs heavier and the gearing isn't as nice.
This one is getting a 20B turbo and G50 transaxle with a target weight of 2400lbs with a/c. 15" Brembo's up front/14" rear. CF splitter and CF rear wing not shown. Also has the ability to raise the front 2.5" with a button to clear driveways/speedbumps.

911rwhp with the old heads. Looking to take it up a notch with the new AFR's. #'s coming soon.
