Good looking car! I love the FD 7's and have always wanted one, although I couldn't let myself part with the wankle.

The only question i have is if you plan on doing any wind tunnel testing or anything, I know a lot of drag racers that have picked up quite a bit in the 1/4 by tuning the aero in. I am sure its a much bigger factor in the standing mile, and also with as much as you have changed, just to be sure the car doesnt try to lift or get real ass happy or something.

But for an all around car to drive and enjoy, I think you did a heck of a job on this one and its def. bad ass.

Bad ass build, but good luck with the mile stuff, you're gonna need it:

So why the choice of Invos other the more popular Hankook or Dunlop that other Texas Mile runners are using?

Sick build (hasn't been said enough).

And as someone pointed out earlier, amit is the big HP supra that is actually at over 1500rwhp all boost now (shooting for something like 1750 or more rwhp with spray) Texas mile is going to be awesome this year.

Again, I built this car in my image. I could care less if it's aero is spot on. It's form over function. I built it so I could enjoy it and have fun! I doubt I'll have the stability issues of the above clip as I'm not on a large salt flat traveling 200+ for miles and miles-obviously a gust of wind lifted the poor white rx7 above. I would argue a 30sec pull is less crutial. I'm not running the invo's at the race, as mentioned, I'll have a set of drag wheels with hoosier RR slicks to help with traction.

You're right, 242+mph is MUCH safer and more stable than 212mph He wasn't cruising at 212, he was still trying to accelerate past that speed

You're also going to need more than a 4 or 6 pt cage

I think you guys all make good points but the tone is rather negative.

The widebody is a hinderance for top speed more than likely, but as you said it is a rounded car. I'm sure it'll do great at everything you do with it. Its got the power to demolish damn near anything on the street even while spinning probably, such wide sticky tires that its damn near impossible that it wont have enough grip to literally strain your neck and enough traction to make all this possible.

So awsome car overall. But I still like to make clear Aero is a concern and I think you should be concerned as well. How fast have you gone before in a car?

And like I said before.. overbuild that roll bar. I know you wanna rock it on the street so you prob dont want a full blown cage, but forget the weight reduction and make sure that roll bar is made of some very heavy duty stuff.

The rx7 that flipped had a suspension failure that caused it to spin and then air got under it from the side and rear causing the flip.

Nice car by the way

Preciate the props and support guys. My TT T/A with the 6sp probably did something around 180-190 course that speedo only read 160 or something...? I've done an indicated 199 several times on the bike with GPS speedo correction but that's the highest the R1 speedo reads..

I set goals for the car but as long as I'm enjoying the car, I could care less if I'm holding a title or beating supra guys. This is my one shot to build the car of my dreams. It won't suit everyone's taste and sure there will be negativity as anywhere else on the planet.

This has got to be one of the most wild LS-powered FDs...actually, THE most wild RX-7 I've ever seen...do you have numbers sheets from the dyno?

Man, I agree. So what if you don't make the best mile time. You will still have a great looking/ performing one of a kind very unique badass car! I know I've already said it once in this thread, but seriously, I admire your build. Its stunning! I'm partial to RX7's. My first car was an RX7 so I've always had a soft spot in my heart for them. Only import I've ever owned actually lol.. Yours is just flat out wicked!

Yours is def more "unique" which gives him the right to consistently bash my build
Where did I bash your build? I'm pretty sure I said "Bad ass build" in my first post. Ease up dude, don't get butt hurt so easily if some one points out a genuine concern.

I like a lot of the work that went into it, but I'm not much of a fan of the body work. I think it looks like a beetle. I really like the F2 setup with the cog belt.

Thanks,
Not quite there yet. Last night I got the chromoly hubs with new bearings back and installed those. Next week I'll be running fuel lines, water lines, and mounting IC and radiators.

There is a huge difference between 200 mph and ~250 mph, just keep that in mind.

I've actually worked with and on vehicles that hit 250 mph in the 1/4 mile, and the wind is damned important even during 2-3 seconds they're traveling that fast, aero is going to be very important for your safety; you shouldn't be so quick to discard it.

It is a very nice build, good work. Your attitude is pretty much garbage though. Good luck with 250+ mph.

have you thought about a flat underbody? also have you seen the Crbon Fiber wheels (with mag/ally spokes)? might save you a little unsprung weight????

Here it sits with rearend assembly complete. Also, in keeping with the ricer theme -j/k, here's the jumbo muffler. Honestly I thought of every way to run true duals but the way the subframe sits and the offset of the gas tank to the drivers side only leaves room for a passenger side exit. It's a polished SS 5" aero turbine shorty and a 5" to 6" rolled tip cut and welded onto the muffler -diesel stuff of course. I'll do a dual 3.5" and Y it into the 5" at the axle.
