Default Radix Magnacharger

I found a Radix Maggie for sale online for 1800, it comes with the fuel pump, injectors, pulley, and innercooler. the add says it came off an 03 truck with a 5.3. My car is an 88 gta with an 02 ls1. Does anyone have any idea if this will work on my car, what Ill need to make everyhting work right, and if this is a great deal i shouldnt pass up? i know ill need a tune.

I was going to do an H/C build up and have alot of accumulated parts and could sell them if it meant getting this.

here is a link to the site that makes them.

If it's off a truck, it's probably a front drive. It has a "J" tube and is fed from the rear. Do you have room for that on the back of your motor? I've never seen a front drive on anything but a truck. Not saying it can't be made to work. Just a heads up.

We've been running one on our 91 Z28 for the past 2-3 years until just now upgrading to the LS9 SC.

You can go to our website and go to Company Project Vehicles, and then 91 Z28 Phase 2 for the step by step.

Yes it is. We switched over to the truck brackets for this which worked out great.

So what did you have to do to make it fit?
What kind of power did you make with it?
other mods?

here is the add... $1800
Radix supercharger kit off my 03 5.3L Will fit the Tahoe, Yukon, Silverado, Sierra, Avalanche, Any Chevy or GMC with the 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0 motors. I took this off when I had to "give" back my truck it worked flawlessly. I have the fuel pump injectors and a higher boost pulley. You will just need gaskets and the new found power will be all yours. This is not the polished unit. But it is the aftercooled more HP unit. Your truck will rip!!!!

Email from him today

Sure I don't have a problem taking a few pictures. I have the manifold upper (with after cooler and compressor) and lower, the water pump/hoses and reservoir, injectors and rail, fuel pumps, some hoses, bolts, wires, I do not have the downloader.I used a custom tune and just left that in the truck. You will need for sure the orings and magnachargers gaskets for their intake. It also has a throttle body "swirl" adapter on it. I think thats all. I'll have to dig it out and see about some pictures later tonight....I'll let you know.

It will fit using the truck accessory brackets and a hole in the hood.

I never did dyno it, but I used the Radix on 3 different engines in the car, and once we had the fuel system figured out, it ALWAYS ran consistant 10's in the quarter mile!

I had the stock 346 LS1, a forged 402, and now the current 408 all running the Radix. As the engine size went up, the boost went down, but it was always a 10.7-10.8 car.

One more heads up. You don't have quite the blower speed range on a front drive as you do on the rear drives. On the truck in my signature, all I see is 8psi with a 2.8" pulley. That's with an MP122 blower. 2.8" is about as small as you can go on a front drive. I've seen 2.65 tried, but wasn't successful due to belt slip.

The up side is that it's over 500rwhp thru a 4L80 tranny, truck rear, with big tires. You'll be limited on the top side hp wise. For fun on the street and power available where you do most of your driving, you can't beat 'em. They look good and they don't break. With a good tune, they're easy on the motor.

$1800 is a good price. I'm going to be selling my Radix too, but not for $1800!

I need to know what else im going to need, im on a budget here, so anyone have any ideas?

tune should be around 450
maggie is 1800

speartech, did you just find some pulleys and a belt off of a truck to make everything line up?

after checking your site, i see the hood wont fit over the maggie, also my Strut tower brace would have to go.

Ill be selling my heads, cam, and eventually my ls6 intake

will have to have it tuned

have a ported tb, what size tb fits on it?

I see you did something to the fuel rails on your 91?

To get the most out of it we ended up with 60# injectors, small pulley, 90mm TB (4 bolt LS2 style) and a revamped fuel system to make sure we were getting max fuel flow from the tank to the SC.

You don't have to do all of that to get it running on the car. Just get it running and see where it leads you and what you need to do to reach your goals.

With ANY forced induction setup, be sure and budget for a good wideband display in the car.

Yes, you will need the truck brackets including the water pump, harmonic balancer, PS pump, etc.

The maggie uses a specific belt with an additional bracket, tensioner and pulleys. Make sure you get those parts in your deal. Most of those parts are seen in the front view of the pic I posted above. ^^^

Keep the cam fairly mild with a wide LSA and just about anything else you do will work fine if you decide to add a maggie later. Compression 10.7 or less might be a good idea too.
