Default Procharger D1SC vs Vortech V9SQ pro's and cons?

The 02 Hawk needs a christmas present, so, help me out here on deciding which to ask Santa for,
Which is more reliable, and maintenance free?
Which is cheaper to install professionally?
Which looks prettier?
Which would keep me around 475HP headache free for a weekend/stress relief driven car?
Any other comments to sway me in favor of one or the other?

Dont buy the procharger kit. I like the head units but the rest of the kit is really lacking.

I have the new 8 Rib ATI D-1SC setup with Twin Intercooler. Its my daily driver with no problems. From the day we installed the SC until now i never touched the tensioner or anything in the car. I got 550rwhp 500rwtq with 8psi only and a conservative tuning running 19 degrees of timing only and mid 11's accross the AF curve to high 10's AF after 6K RPM. Im running a 4.25 SC pulley too which means i have alot of room left in the future if i want more boost without worrying about slippage.

you always hear someone having problems with the ATI's they make the power when they aren't chewing up belts or having other problems.

Vortech is better engineered kit in my opinion and if you get the polished kit or buy the satin kit and get it polished after the fact it looks awesome under the hood.

i can get you pics of my kit if you want to see.

They used to chew belts with the old 6 rib setup. Alot of people are happy with the new 8 Rib setup. I dont see any problems with my belt and i beat on the car almost every day.

As far as looks go I personally don't like the vortech. I think it makes the engine compartment look too cluttered. That opinion is soley on the looks.

You hear more about ATI problems what Vortech because ATI is more popular, meaning there are more ATI kits out there than the Vortech. The G-Trim unit is good for a Stock motor, and up to 10psi of boost. But it does not flow enough air to support a modded motor, some people have done it, but they needed to oper spin the little G-trim to get there. I like the Vortec T-trim. Put that with the Regular LS1 kit, inplace with the G-trim and have some fun. ATI's head uniots flow wonderful and their twin Air to Air intercoolers/aftercoolers are better than the Aftercooler Vortech supplies, unless your going to be at the track all the time and ice it down. I have owned a ATI kit for 3 years, and where they need to step up on is the piping, brackets, their tention system sucks! Vortec is better in that dept. I'm for both kits. If you plan in installing it, and forget about go with the Vortech kit. You might not push as much power as with a D-1SC and the SDCE 8 rib setup. But you'll never need to mess with the Vortech as much as the ATI kit. Also oil changes are done automaticly with the Vortech kits when you change your engine oil. ATI's head units tend to weap a little oil which I don't like. Vortech does not weap, but sometimes pushs oil back through your intake piping and could get the Maf all oiled up.

Both kits have their pros and cons. If you want a 500RWHP car and don't really need to mess with it, Go Vortech t-trim.

If you want to make more power and don't mind messing with it a little here and there, go ATI D-1SC.

This is funny cause I install many superchargers and turbos. I know where you guys are coming from. I woul pic vortec on this, to bad there is no radix for the f-bodies. Well we have a saying for Procharger goes something like this.

........."The system sucks! but the headunit is topnotch.".......lol, I just love saying it.

A G trim has more than enough in it to support 500 rear wheel. if you you're looking to go into the 600's rear wheel then you would need a T Trim.

Well I have to say that I like my Vortech and I make good power without over spinning it. I have a few more ponies in the setup without having to go to the T-Trim. Last dyno was 569rwhp and not with the new lid I have and a small intake restriction that I have. I think HUGGER said it fine that it is more maintance free than the ATI I believe that.
Got Me Some- I think low 600's are very possible with the G-trim, but I agree the T-trim is much better suited. Also did you do a before and after comparison on the lid?

I hadn't had time to do a before and after on the dyno but it definitely felt a lot more crisper and i feel like i gained at least 10 hp. She's going in for tuning tonight along with a 2.95" pulley.

I wish i could have tuned her before i am curious to see what the lid was worth.

I think the SDCE procharger kit gives you the best of both worlds. Superior kit design with superior headunit.

ATI... Tried and proven by many many f-bodies. Great power with great times to back it up! Yes they have some problems but I with the new 8 rib i have not heard of many, if any!

Also, I think the Vortech is just plain UGLY! Looks like they just threw some piping ontop on an engine... ATI is a much cleaner look. ATI's sound killer too

So which setup is going to be quieter D1Sq or Vortech SQ?
Would installing a procharger allow me to keep the custom FRC's on, unlike Vortech?
Just how labor intensive is changing the oil on the Progharger every 6K miles?
You guys are full of great info, keep it coming!
Thanks!

My Vortech is pretty intimidating sounding. No mistaking what I got.

Inspector12 car gets retuned with a 2.95" pulley tomorrow, we're keeping the shift points down since i'm on stock springs but I want to put some dual valvesprings and rev her to 6500, that should get me into the 10's and I'll be happy-for now
