I have a set of the GM mls 02-04 zo6 head gaskets that are suspose to be good, I will be using ARP head studs.
I was thinking of the Cometic Phuzion LS1 boost head gaskets , they are expensive but are suspose to prevent head gasket failer in event of head lifting.
Id also like to hear about different head gasket options. Im going to need a set of 4.030's soon for my turbo iron 6.0...

Those cometics require a special RA finish on the deck and the heads. So fine that most shops DO NOT have the equipment or know how to nail it. When you choose a machine shop, that is something to look for. Cometics are really finnicky. I used GM MLS LS7 gaskets on mine.

Finally!!! Someone else gets it... I had an argument with a guy who had put cometics on his engine, and he was leaking coolant everywhere. I told him, unless you deck your block, they're not going to sit level and they're going to leak. He didn't believe me. That's why he was on the bleachers watching ME race.
Cometics are AWESOME gaskets and it's really hard to make them distort, but they take some preparation before they can be installed. It's really a 50/50 success rate. I've seen guys do a head swap with them and they work fine - I've also seen the alternative.
The only way to be sure is to deck the block. Other than that, the GM units are very good and don't really require any special machining.
BTW - does anyone know where to get the GM MLS (other than the dealer?) My local dealer is saying $160.00/set. That seems a little high to me.
Ask for a price on two of part number #12610046, the list price is $37.84 each. This is the 5-layer GM MLS gasket for an 6.0/6.2 engine.
Keep shopping until you get a realistic price.

Thanks for the PN.
Turns out the parts dept guy at my local dealership is shady as hell. He's telling me that PN is a special-order item and that in order to get them, he has to order them in sets of 5; so because of that, he has to charge me the extra shipping! WTF?!
So with shipping it'll be $112.00 for 1 set... Something is very fishy here.
