Default BMW Project pics -turbo 5.3L

My friend and I are building this. 2000 540i (his car) I have a ton of pics in the conversion section (click here), but figured i'd post it here too. Just a daily driver car stock 5.3L w/ 317 heads and a MPT-70 turbo. Extreme budget built. Excuse some of the horrible welds and crappy looking piping (that collector) most of it will get smoothed and polished so not a ton of time was taken to make it look perfect.
...oh and the car will retain all the luxuries...AC!!

And being able to get to the spark plugs was something I kept in mind.

dope if you ask me. It takes a lot of balls to mod that car. Make sure it makes at least 700 rwhp on pump to make the job worth it.

whats with the weld around the throttle body? is that to help stop the intake tube from blowing off under boost?

I wondered about the same thing, welding the lip on the TB, looks like a good idea to keep it from blowing off. Put the coupler on, tighten the T-bolt on the engine side of it, and call it a day! =)

Yes we did that because of his Nova blowing the elbow off. After he did his it held on for good.
