Just got my speed inc fuel rails and noticed a member on here saying he had used teflon and he had problems with it leaking. What thread sealer do I need to use? I was going to use liquid teflon will this work? What are your recommendations?
I used teflon tape and had no problems. Just make sure you get the fittings tight. Don't do mount them to the intake manifold and then tighten them. You can't crank on them very hard when they're mounted to the manifold. Put the fittings on each side of the rail and then crank on them both at the same time. This way they both tighten at the same time and hold the rail still for you.
Try a search.. this was just discussed a few days ago...
If your talking about snyper's post then you might want to reread it. It plainly stated he tried teflon and it did not work. He welded everything up to fix his problem. I have seen plenty of other post stating teflon was fine and to tighten the piss out of everything. As for the search I did use it and got 3 search results. I was looking for other recommendations besides teflon. There seems to be some confussion among members as to weather teflon goo's up when exposed to gasoline. Not trying to be a smartass but the "use search" line is getting old. I'm looking for recommendations not "use search".
here ya go...this is what i used on my rails. I used teflon to start with 3 damn times and no luck.
Suzuki 1207B Silicone
this is the badest shit ever. We use it on everything. It is black in color, can be found on the internet, or any Suzuki motorcycle dealer should have it on the shelf.

Is that silicone fuel resistant? Usually silicone gets eaten up rather quickly when exposed to fuel. If the fittings on the rail are AN fittings, there is no need for thread sealer... They are compression fittings. I didn't use any sealant for my autometer fuel pressure sender, and it doe snot leak a drop. I used the teflon paste for the npt side though.

Their the speed inc rails. Snyper posted up that he used teflon on his and they wouldn't stop leaking so he welded everything up. He's using the same rails.
2 wraps of teflon tape and never an issue. Just put it on in the right direction and avoid getting it on the very first thread. You shouldnt need any kind of sealer in such a low pressure application.
