Huh, looks a lot different than the years after it. Does the stock pump unit come out fairly easy? After it's out what do you do... Put new pump in and splice the wires together?

Because the stock tank has no baffles I choose to keep my bucket for improved fuel pickup when the fuel level is below 1/4 tank.

the metal tanks have a built in slosh panel. the 99+ cars got a plastic tank and put the pump in a 'bucket' to keep fuel around it.

pictured is a metal tank install.

I just noticed now you used Butt Connectors to make your connections for the Ground and Power to the pump. YOu might want to change those, I've seen butt connectors loosen from vibration and loose conductivity. Heard a bad story of a local shop using butt connectors on injector wires and cylinders running lean with bad consequences.

mr freeze, no worry about any explosions, i know it is counter-intuitive, but no worries

butt connectors have the potential to work ok. acutally i have 4 of them in my gas tank of my car.

Butt connectors on any component that delivers fuel is asking for problems. I can't see how you soldered the pump connections on that pump install that is a sticky and not your own. But hey, to each there own.

I picked up my Harness install kit today with the pump...I'll post up some pics later on tonight.

The Install kit comes with a plug and play harness that plugs in the walbro pump and the other end has a harness to plug into the factor harness. I'm taking pictures right now in the garage. I'll get them up shortly.

Just finished making my wiring harness tonight.

Here's the pics:

Pictures of the Walbro power and ground harness I took apart with a pick. Thicker gauge wire pictured on the left and the stock wiring on the right.

The new thicker gauge wires on the lead I pulled out of the Walbro pump harness. I soldered them as well as crimped them and heat shrunk the ends so there is no chance of them getting loose and coming apart.

Once the connections were done I put the leads back in the walbro supplied harness.

Then I took the leads out of the other factory harness with a pick and took out the factory small gauge wire. The new thicker gauge wire slid in perfectly and I Crimped Soldered and heat shrunk it as well again.

Then I put the leads back in the factory harness making sure they snapped back in place. And here's the finished Thicker gauge harness...

This was a nice easy job to sit at the work bench and throw together. I'm going to be replacing the rest of the factory wiring outside the pump this week upgrading it as well. Now I am finally going to drop the pump in the tank!

Just finished dropping the pump in and fired it up!

I extended the bottom of the pick up on the pump and test fit it a few times to make sure it wasn't pressed up against the plastic slosh bucket in the tank. The fuel feed line clears the top of the tank and still flexes without binding or pinching.
