Description:
The biggest money pit ever. Bought Fall 2007 because my old car (a 93 taurus lol) rusted out. Thought this was a good buy at $3200. Needed some work (tires and brakes) and the body was a bit rough, but it seemed solid otherwise. Found out it was more heavily abused than I thought it was.
Since then, I have replaced brakes (rotors and pads), tires, tie rod ends, LCA bushings, windshield, 2 calipers, all the lifters, then the entire motor a few months after that, then have been fixing all the screwups that the guy who put the motor in messed up (oil pan, alternator, intake gasket) plus the tensioner and fuel pressure regulator. Now I've replaced the motor a second time, only 10 months after the first replacement. That "mechanic" botched the install and caused it to overheat and cook the oil and bearings. At least this was under warranty but I still had to pay a chunk of the labor because I found (the hard way) the warranty only covers 7 hours worth for the motor swap. Yeah, great.
Overall, I've spent over $5000 in repairs alone since I bought it. Hence the name 'moneypit.' It sucks, but I didn't know this would happen when I bought it.
I've decided, since I won't get my money back out of it, that I'm going to turn it into a project. Might as well throw even more money at it now haha. Won't happen until 2010/2011 but should be fun once I start.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
Whisper lid
Suspension Modifications:
Replaced the stock decrapon shocks with KYB GR-2 shocks. Mod? Not really, but much better than the old junk.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Does an aftermarket pioneer headunit, speakers, and HIDs in projector housings count?
Future Modifications:
Forced induction of some sort, with all supporting engine mods, upgrade the rear end, convert to a manual (maybe a T56 instead of the standard T5), plus some tasteful exterior and interior mods.
