Default Will 2 series gears fit in a 3 series carrier?

I have an oportunity to get a great deal on a set of 4.10's and a gear install kit. The only problem is that the gears are for a 2 series carrier and my car has a 3 series carrier in it. I know that a 2 series gear is thicker, but will it fit?

Yea I don't think so either. I do have a 2 series carrier sitting in my garage that would accept the gears but I don't feel like swapping the whole rear just for a gear change. On the other hand, I would be able to install the gears right out in the open without being crammed under a car.

A 2 series gear set will not work with a 3 series carrier

I already have a 2 series auburn sitting in my garage. I'm just too lazy to swap the whole rear just for gears lol.

you have a rear in your garage with a 2 series posi in it and you want to swap gears out in your camaro. you will have to take the carrier out in the 10 bolt you have now in the car to put the gears in if you get them. so your so lazy that you dont want to take 25 more bolts out of another rear end to get the carrier out. you lost me man or you need the award for the most lazy person out there.

I have another rear sitting in my garage. It came out of an Auto car and is a 2:73 rear with an auburn posi that has 130K on it. I really don't feel like buying the original gears I was going to buy just because it's a good deal because they are for a 2 series carrier(which is the one sitting in my garage).

I put a spacer in my rear when I went from 2.73 to 3.42. It has worked great and been whisper quiet for 3 years and counting.

That would be 3 series gears in a 2 series carrier...not 2 series gears in a 3 series carrier.
