A4 3.73's or 4.10's? Guys with experience please chime in!
I have 3.73's waiting to be installed but i'm having second thoughts if i should go with 4.10's. I'd like some of you guys with experience with the two gears in A4 cars to please chime in.
If you do a fair amount of driving on interstate I would say stay with 3.73s. I ran them for awhile and topped out around 130 - 135 in third. I was running a 2000 stall though. Not sure what kind of gears you are running now but if they are 2.73 thats a big jump and it will easily net you more than .2 in the quarter. If you are running a big stall the gains will be less.
Im about to run 4.10s once my 96 project is finished. Not by choice only because thats what was in the rear I bought for 50 bucks and im not spending the $$ to change em out. Im just gonna save and get a 12 bolt in a couple of years.
i just bought a car with 4:10's in an A4 and i love it for the street. Since i just got the car like 4 days ago i havent had a chance to get to the track yet.
4:10's would probably do real good in the 1/8 but on the 1/4 it would probably put you into OD if your shift point isnt pretty high.

Yeah I was just interested to see how much it would help, this is my first A4 Build. All the others have been M6's.

I haven't had mine to the track but I went from 2.73's to 4.10's and it is bad ass on the street. Definately take out a lot of cars from stop light to stop light. Highway isn't so bad about 3000-3200 at 80 with stock size tires. And my milage didn't change much at all. I do go into overdrive pretty quick though. But when do I really drive 110? It all depends on your idea of driveable. I love it cause the car moves out soooo good from a dig. I'm not into high high speeds so it was the right choice for me.

I agree definetly mean on the street but i just ran the car wot today and it topped out at about 120ish at the stock rev limiter. I should get to the track pretty soon hopefully tomorrow night I'll get to run in the 8th where theres gears will really work.

i vote 4.10s with 28" tall...that would be about the same ratio as 3.73s and 26s....but will give you better traction at the track...

I have a stock 3.42 rear end in my car and have gone 1.42 60" on a tiny drag radial.
3.42's work good for me
Im curious what I would gain going to 3.73's or 4.10/4.30's and a 28" radial?
Its already hard enough to hook this thing on the spray off the line. Im thinking the gears may hurt me.

track was slick that night so i couldn't cut a decent short time. MPH difference was vs. previous runs with 3.23s and dead hooks off the line on multiple occasions
