Are LS1 & LT1 axles different or the same in length?
I have a LS1 car and a spare LT1 rear I just picked up. If I swap the backing plates from LT1 to LS1 will I be a ble to reuse the LS1 brakes on the LT1 rear?
I read this post where someone says the axles are of different lengths. Yet mosers site says that their A102805 axle fits 1993 - 2002 fbodies
I always thought the axles were the same length between 1993 - 2002 now I question it. Does anyone know for sure?
Why would one even be 1/8" longer or shorther than the other. The only thing that comes to mind is the cross pin in an auburn and the thrust block in a torsen.
The axle housing is the same size its the actual shafts that are different. You can switch the backing plates to run ls1 brakes on a lt1 rear. Many have done it on here.

So I can install LT1 axle shafts in a LT1 rear with LS1 brakes and there wont be any clearance issues? I thought you had a similar problem but going the other way?
So guys who have a LT1 car that upgrade to LS1 rear brakes have to upgrade to LS1 axles to avoid clearance issues?
In other words I have a LT1 rear void of brake hardware. If I want to throw it in my LS1car using the current LS1 brake hardware can I use the LT1 axles that are in it or do I have to pull the axles out of my LS1 rear and put them in the LT1 rear?
I have read about Lt1 owners upgrading to LS1 brakes and no mention of buying LS1 axles, but then I read that other post saying there are clearance issues
