Ordered Richmond 4.10s yesterday. Hopefully they aren't too noisy. I have been told by a couple local shops that correct installation and break in is critical to having quieter and longer last gears. Assuming you don't thrash on the car, but who doesn't?

i dont care bout the whine or noise. but which brand is the strongest? my car will never see the track anyways.
I hear Richmonds are the strongest, but whine the most..
Motive are quiet, but not as strong..
I have Richmonds and they whine like a banshee in my 10 bolt.. In all fairness, I roasted the bearings in it when I had my 3.8 still in her.. Did the rebuild all Richmond, and now after a half year or so whining just as bad..
I see a 9inch or 12 bolt in my near future..

I have Richmond 3.73 a little on the loud side but they get me off the line just nice.

the richmond street gears are alittle softer than gm gears, and the pro gears are softer yet. the reason is to be less brittle, more forgiving, and not shear from shock load, gm gears are tougher and last longer, but in extreem conditions softer gears are supposed to be better.

I was going to go with Motive's "Thick Gear", because of the 2 series carrier but I called Summit racing and they said their own brand is made by either Motive or Richmond. So I saved 50 bucks and bought the summit set of 3.42's. They are really quiet with a very faint whine after about 70mph. You really have to listen for it to here it.
Funny...I just went with the Motive's 3:73 thick gear..I have 2:73 now..Got them from Jeff at Jaw gears..Great guy, answered all my questions right away.I'll have to let you guys know how they are.Getting them installed next week..
