I recommend the 9 inch rear for the higher horsepowered cars, and for those who have a manual transmission. Here is why.
Put a 12 bolt into a early Chevelle, Nova, Camaro, etc and you can beat the crap out of it, and not hurt anything. Put one into one of our cars with a torque arm, make a couple 4000 to 5000 dragstrip launches, and I can just about guarantee you'll pick up gear noise. If it is a drag only car, you'll never know or care about the gear noise. Drive your car home from the track, and the noise will drive you nuts. I feel the torque arm stresses the 12 bolt housing, causing distortion. We have never seen this happen with the 9 inch housing.

You'll have to disconnect your ABS to run a nine inch. We've done this on many installs, and the car just won't have ABS, which isn't a problem if you know how to threshold brake. Bob

New, seamless housing tube is essential in assuring ultimate housing strength, which our 3” in diameter tubing is not only seamless, but also a 1⁄4” thick. We also use newly stamped high-strength brackets that are considerably thicker than used OEM brackets. Included with each housing produced are newly forged housing ends, as well as new bushings. COMPLETE MOSER 12 BOLT
Moser Engineering offers the best aftermarket 12 Bolt on the market. Our 12 Bolt housings are newly cast nodular iron housing units that are direct replacements for most leaf-spring, coil-spring, and torque arm General Motors OEM applications. The extremely durable housing units have giant caps utilizing half inch Allen bolts, and include perches or brackets. You have a choice of axles with pressed on ball bearings, or OEM style c-clip with c-clip retention. The units can be set up for anti-lock brakes and work with many OEM GM brake setups. Utilizing new housing ends adds to the simplicity and ease of installation, which is unparalleled in the industry. The complete package includes a Moser 12 Bolt housing, Custom Alloy Axles with ball bearings, studs and retainer plates. Also includes either a Moser full spool or a posi unit, Pro Street gears, 1350 series pinion yoke, chrome cover, and assembly. Brakes are not included. When ordering with a Moser full spool or a posi unit, you have the option of 30 spline axles or upgrade to our 33 spline axles, which carry a 10 year replacement warranty. 3 channel is ABS, 4 channel is ABS and TCS. ABS stands for automatic braking system and TCS stands for traction control system. If you have a TCS switch on the dash then you have ABS/TCS. Hopefully this helps. Bob

(Housing with axle tubes, suspension/torque arm mounts, stock GM caliper brackets. I have a center section.)

Also, what would the axle lengths be? I don't need it narrowed any, just whatever fits under a 4th gen F-Body.

I'd like to pick up the Moser 9", but I'm concerned about the trq arm. I already have an LG trq arm that cost $500, and don't really want to have to get another trq arm. Will the Moser 9" bolt up to the LG trq arm?
