Default Detroit Locker on the street????

I'm interested in putting a 9" rear end in my 99' Z28. I am looking at using a Detroit Locker differential. For those that do use this differential, how do you like it? What are it's manners like? Are there any noises etc? Or would it not be a good choice in using this differential for a combination road race/street car. My logic in using this was that alot of the guys runnning restored 65' Shelby R' model Mustangs use the 9" with a Detroit Locker in their road racing.

Trans Am (the race serise, not the car) cars run lockers.
It's ummm... interesing, to say the least. Basically, you have to tailor your driving to compensate for the locker, or it'll send you around.

On the street, it's not bad. A little noisy though.

I've had mine for about 2 years now. its noisy around turns (will clunk sometimes) and you get what I like to call the "twitch" at times where when you hit the gas in a straight line the rear will twitch left to right a tad. Its quite streetable once you get used to it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks, for the input. So basically, if I use the locker, I need to get used to drifting through turns?

Now spools are a true pain. "Sliding" around corners will help some, but you'll have to just live with shorter life on your tires.
